Comes on for a cameo, instantly becomes the best of the front 3 and all we get on here is calls for him to leave. Bizarre reaction to a very positive 20 minutes. He looked sharp, very sharp. should have scored, unlucky hitting the post pretty sure it took a deflection on the way, should have buried the rebound but was far better than Grealish or foden in a much shorter time on the pitch.

Unless Pep plays gundogan, Bernardo and kdb in any of the games thus pushing one of them 3 upfront, he simply has to play against Madrid and liverpool and preferably as the 9. His energy gives the team so much in the big games.
foden, him and sterling are our best press by a mile. If we want to press and suffocate teams, thats the forward line.

Very odd that Pep would rather shoehorn players into unnatural position when a much better fit is left on the bench.
Finally a bit of balance and spark up front when he arrived.

I absolutely love him, but I think it's time to accept that he's on his way out. He has a year left on his contract and we've heard nothing about a renewal. He can go to any number of top clubs around Europe and back himself to start every week. Juventus to replace Dybala, Atletico to replace Suarez, Dortmund to replace Haaland. Even PSG need a new striker, they could do a lot worse than Gabby. Inter and AC both have geriatric strikers that need replacing.

We've already replaced him with Alvarez.

I wish he'd had more game time, but the truth is he hasn't kicked on as a player since his first couple of seasons. We shouldn't be talking about Haaland right now - Jesus was supposed to be that player. The confidence and swagger that he had in abundance when he first came has disappeared.

The likes of Stones and even Sterling have both had long periods where they've been out of favour, but when they've got the chance again they've made something of it. Maybe Gabby still can. It looked like he was having a renaissance on the right wing at the start of the season, but the truth is he isn't better than Mahrez or Sterling there.

Is he still a very useful squad player? Absolutely. But he'll want more than that, and that's why he needs a fresh start.

Edit: Just realised he's 25 today. Happy Birthday Gabby. Thanks for the memories (so far).

Nah. He's just a bottle job of a player and I don't think that is an aspect of his game that will go anywhere. Trying hard isn't good enough for a club at our level there has to be some consistent end product over time and there just isn't with Jesus and he's been here forever unlike Grealish. Its true phil wasn't arsed today but he's ten times the player this guy is I'm sorry.

But every time he’s had a run of games he has proven to be a consistent goal scorer. Or provider when out wide. He’s the player treated the harshest, Stones could argue the same though.,

Yeah that's the crazy thing, he did a lot and still there are calls to force him out of the club, they did it to Sterling last year also

By the way, you dare not call Grealish out. Sacrebleu!

If Alvarez and Haaland come in then 1 player (plus Mendy) must go. I hope its Sterling so that Jesus stays.

I'd like to see a new front 3 of Alvarez, Haaland, Jesus.

I don't see how he can be a replacement for somebody that played for 4 years together in the same side, he was just a different option rather than a replacement. We had 2 undroppable wingers at that point so he was only getting a look in upfront and it was much easier to ask a young 19 year old to play upfront for Pep than the wing but the point was he hasn't suddenly decided to try his hand at playing as a wide man, He's always played that kind of role and we signed him after seeing him in that role.

None of us know what's going to happen with alvarez, he might not even be here next season yet and if he is, it's not unreasonable to suggest he might not feature much for the first year while he adjusts. But even if we brought in both of them this summer there's still just about enough room for them all. The dippers have 5 starting forwards and 3 other options for just 3 positions, Chelsea have about the same as the dippers and they don't even always have as many attacking players on the pitch. we currently have just 5 options for our front 3 that goes to 7 with those two additions and you can also make a case for pushing at least foden back into midfield. There's room.
Liverpool have that firepower and that is why they are breathing down our necks and gonna push us for everything . If Jesus was the player we want him to be then the title would have been wrapped and he’d be bagging 25 plus goals . And as for pep wanting to keep him we shall see but pep doesn’t even trust him when we haven’t got a striker so what does that tell you .
