Not sure I agree with this one. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Sooner or later they're going to accidentally knock an innocent rider off their bike and then what?

I doubt they are randomly going round knocking moped riders over, this will be people they are in pursuit of.

When using force officers are governed by the following legislation:

  • Section 117 PACE 1984 (when an arrest is made force may be used)
  • Human Rights Act 1998 (force must always be proportionate, legal, officers are accountable and it must have been necessary)
  • Section 3 Criminal Law Act 1967 (officers may use reasonable force in the circumstances to prevent crime)
  • Common Law (an officer may use force to protect themselves or another)
I doubt nugding someone off the road breaks any of these above so a lawsuit is unlikely to be won.

As someone who has been kettled in london and slapped round the head by a copper unreasonably outside the swamp, plus section 60'd unecessaraly I have no great love of the police for aome of their actions, but will defend them in this instance

I appreciate this, but surely you know better than anyone, with your previous experience, you know the Police don't always abide by these laws they're "governed" by?
And who decides what's proportionate force is the issue. Guy nicks a phone on a moped, is it proportionate to knock him off that bike at 30mph? Could genuinely kill them

Edit- also I said they could get it wrong and knock an innocent person off. I mean they shot an innocent man to death so it ain't out of the question!

Of course not, I have had the ACAB opinion of coppers in my time and normally I would be reticent to condone such drastic action, but unfortunately respect for the police and other emergency services amongst some in society has all gone and putting the fear of serious consequences for considering attemptimg moped crime as in this case needs to be reballanced.

All the instances I mention with the police and myself, I was well behaved and respectful of getting knicked, these fuckers on bikes don't seem to give a fuck about that and drive off.

We have had scrambler bikes around my way riding on pavements and harrassing drivers and GMP took the option of catch, confiscate and destroy rather than this, but this seems a problem in London where that tactic failed so they are using this one.

Recently we have had coppers getting attacked by the public while trying to make an arrest, cop cars getting bricked by gangs of kids.
Firemen being attacked in call outs.
Paramedics stoned when visiting certain areas.

Never thought I would think this but there comes a time when unfortunately a few scrotes need their heads cracking together and some ballance of respect/fear for the law restored.


When a ford capri 'jam butty' rolled up in the area you knew to behave yourself, now a police car comes along no one bats an eyelid

Excellent news, we've got to start getting strong with scrotes like these, worrying about killing or maiming them
is something they've exploited and led to a massive surge in this type of crime. It had to stop.
 
On a related note, a little scrote near me rides his scrambler past my house most days before flying across the park on it. I'm seriously considering stringing some cord up in the back alley. Head height.
