a match boycott is a must

Regardless of what people say or think our fans won't boycott an away match/fixture on-masse due to the ticket price.

As the London games have shown, there will always be enough City fans wanting an away ticket to negate any boycott.(especially now)

Something more effect and visual would be a banner similar to the Ajax one. Get it in the ground and hold it up for as long as possible + some chants. That would ram the point home and it would be in full view of the Directors of the said football club and the media.

Obviously it's just a token gesture, but it has to start somehow and somewhere.(Arsenal)

All these people posting on here about the people who can afford to pay saying they won't boycott being "selfish" need to wake up and realise what world they live in.

Or are they sharing all of their hard earned with the poor and less fortunate of the world?

Thought not, it goes on beers and tickets. If you get priced out then it's the way of the world.

If you don't like it you need to make more money or join the Socialist Worker Party.

I can't afford to go a lot of the time coz a load of you have ALREADY priced me out. Do you hear me crying like a brat?

Fucking cope.

Arsenal is interesting. West Brom mate says his ticket is 25 for their match there. Top 4 team with good following. We're being shafted.
Think we should concentrate on city charging proper prices for away fans and then push club to seek parity. If we backed away fans at or place it could be a really positive step to move the whole of football

Are Norwich charging their own non season ticket fans £50?

Although i am one of the ones who could afford it i am reluctant to pay over £35 for any game barring a semi final or final.I used to travel all over with City and it was reasonably affordable.Cheaper travel, pay at the gates etcetera. To add to the misery train fares are going up by 6% in the New Year as well.

The youngsters will be more fanatical and probably pay,i would at their age, nothing would stop me from seeing the Blues. As you get older although the passion doesn't die the blind ''I have to be there no matter what '' does wane a little.

I am strong on principal too[ i was once on strike for 16 months!] and don't like people taking the piss,so i will tell Norwich to stuff it!The same applies for any other club charging rip off prices.I miss a few games, it isn't the end of the world,i will curse and sweat in a pub, online or at the end of a radio instead of being ripped off.

Away fans will soon be a thing of the past,if the ticket prices don't do for them the transport prices will!

if there's a boycott and no turns up who going to be there to persuade those that turn up not to go in?

wouldn't civil disobedience be a bit more impactful ? for example buying a pie taking a bite then saying its crap and getting your your money back that way no profit for the club and unsellable goods will play havoc with queue times if done properly though

Was looking forward to Southampton its cheap as chips to fly down and back

No doubt the flight costs will double on the weekend we play there.

Every fucker is on the take, not just clubs, and it's Football Fans that get the piss taken out of them far too often.
Supply and demand fella. You can't blame them for getting away with it if they can.

Quite shocked at the attitudes shown by a few on this thread that I imagined would know better. It's all well and good for the younger supporters who have a lot of disposable income but before you lot came along, there was always thousands of others who kept the club going.

It's a tricky one to suss out because a national boycott would have to involve home supporters as well or as stated, the home sides would simply sell the away allocation to their own supporters. Then you have the problem that season ticket holders aren't going to boycott something that they've already paid for. The "I'm alright Jack, fuck you" brigade who are on this thread in numbers would also gladly throw a spanner in the works on any matchday food, drink, programmes boycott simply because they can. A proper selfish attitude shown by some which explains why it's got to this state in the first place.
That is harsh, it is hardly "I am alright jack" if someone wanted to attend a game they had already paid for.

Which is why I mentioned them seperately.

a) a boycott of matches would be hard to do because season ticket holders have already paid for tickets

b) the "I'm alright Jack" brigade would ruin a boycott of stuff on sale in grounds simply because they can.

I mentioned them seperately because I see them both (ie two groups of people) causing a problem to two different types of protest. I'm certainly not referring to season ticket holders as the "I'm alright Jack" brigade unless they are also people who'd wreck a food/drink/programmes boycott.

Rach, I think you've been mentioned because (and it's unfortunate that you're singled out) your attitude is completely missing the point. I think the idea of it all is for football fans nationwide to demonstate against ticket prices. The very idea that City fans would ignore a national demonstration because "it'd affect our title chances" makes my skin crawl.

It will only work if it is organised.
If only we do it, it will make bugger all difference, because they will just sell the tickets to "neutrals".

It needs a FSF organised "Weekend of Action" against prices generally across all of football, including lower league.

Clubs need to be shown we have a voice, and if we get together its a big one.
This. It has to be organised and across all clubs and all games at all levels. No away fans at all the games would make people take notice although if away tickets are priced at the same price as home tickets then how can you argue for cheaper away tickets then home tickets? The best we could hope for is away tickets at the same price as home tickets...but if the home tickets are expensive eg. arse, chelski, then we're all goosed. Can anyone follow what I'm saying here? If yes can you please explain it back to me...lol.

My lad is already in dusseldorf and travelled from there to watch cologne play in a second tier match. Paid on the day, all the standing tickets had gone so sat in good seats and was charged 25 euros. Lots of standing sections.
Interestingly though, he said there was no atmosphere at all for 10 minutes - said it was like a morgue, then on 10 minutes the stadium erupted with the best atmosphere / noise he has come across for a while. Turns out german fans were having a protest against plans to abolish safe standing as a result of the hillsborough reports - all the german fans are opposed to this hence the unified protest!
IMO the only way to make a stand about prices is seek unity from fan's of all clubs and make a stand together...this is where the power is and will make the money men (sponsors / tv companies) raise an eyebrow or two!

Every week i read n hear people moaning about prices. (im one of them)

It seems the average price for a city away is £50 excluding wigan.

So if you go every away game it will be well over £1000 with travel food beer

Thats not even including european and cup games.

Theres only one way to attempt to put a stop to these clubs ripping us off.

An organised boycott.. prices will carry on going up unless we as fans act.

It will only work if it is organised.

To be fair, it's nothing to do with any football club what you eat and drink, that's your business.

I agree football is getting ridiculously expensive though.

"Fans across the German club divide displayed fabulous scenes of unity on Tuesday night in a widespread supporter protest against the controversial ’Safe Stadium experience’ laws likely to come into operation imminently.

The German football authorities are set to vote on December 12 on the ’Safe Stadium experience’ paper. In a nutshell, the paper plans to vastly reduce away support from the present 10% ticket allocation to just 5%, whilst institutionalising a complete ban on away standing sections. Moreover, the paper wants all German football fans to undergo strict full body scans when entering a stadium.

The rules are to apply to both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga II divisions, but on Tuesday night the fans of the top two tiers of German football expressed their thoughts on the ‘Safe Stadium experience’ paper through the newly established 12:12 protest movement.

The protest is beautiful in it’s simplicity, just demanding that all fans refuse to chant songs and waves banners until the 12th minute and 12th second of their respective matches. Once that time had past though, it is the responsibility of every fan to get back to the job of vocally supporting their team".
