A reply to Mancini's MEN advert in La Gazzetta Dello Sport

This is all going to come down to whatever we are quoted from Gazzetta. If it is too extortionate then it's just not feasible.

Could we not do half a page if we had to? its such a great idea and it would be a wonderful thing to do - shame if we can't make it happen.

I don't think the quote will be too large. Sure, it'll be hefty however this will be a PR goldmine for the Gazzetta. More so than the Mancini ad was for the MEN as this is fan run.

Anyway, I did a bit of tweeting and re-tweeting this morning - I'm very much in support of this campaign.

The main thing which a number of blues need to grasp is the fact that we can't pluck any old image from Google and tell Adam and the designer to use that. They need to secure copyright usage for the image and the image must be hi-res. IF an image was plucked straight off of Google it wouldn't get past the Gazzetta editor due to i) copyright issues ii) it'll more than likely be of poor quality.

Adam spent most of the day searching for someone who owned a decent hi-res image to use and says he now has a 'stunner'. Think we're ok on this front. His main concern seems to be the quote but as you say, this is great publicity for La Gazzetta so I'd have thought they'd want to make it happen too.

As far as the translation goes etc, should it not just have "once a blue always a blue" on the advert and then put the translation in brackets underneath ? We are English not Italian, Just like Bobby signed off his advert with "Ciao" ?

Ciao was the only one of the 11 words, excluding nouns and numbers, in Italian in Mancini's ad, the rest was in English so we could read it. This should be in Italian so he, and the rest of La Gazzetta's circulation, can read it.

I can see your argument however I think I'm safe to say that the vast amount of people know what 'ciao' means. I don't believe the same can be said for "once a blue always a blue". This is going to be placed in an Italian newspaper, surely we want the Italians to understand as well?

If its not being put in the paper till Monday/Tuesday, couldn't you always get a picture at tomorrow's game taken by someone on here, maybe if the 'gratzie Mancini' banner is there again or is this against copyright laws as well?

Good idea all the same. Well done to all involved!

I'll get jumped on for this but who gives a fuck. He will get his name sang loudly and proudly all game tomorrow. He's a multi millionaire partially due to Manchester City. Job done.

It isn't a matter who gives a fuck!

Roberto has thanked the fans publicly, we should do the same imo

Nowt more public than 45,000 singing your name every week for the last 3 years, but whatever flicks your switch I suppose.

I've heard he's more of a Sun man than Gazetta ;)
