A bit weird they are going after another LB though, as I thought Rico Henry was one of their best players last season and he only recently signed a four year extension. Unless they plan to play Hickey on the right. Or they have had a bid for Henry from elsewhere

He was, but in mitigation played on the right when he is a left back.

He’s actually a right-footed player who just happens to be comfortable playing on the left as well. In that regard, he is the same as Gael Clichy.

We are always looking to build for the future. In that regard, Hickey is amongst the most promising FBs in the world. We are not going to buy the likes of Rico Henry or Antonee Robinson, good players in their mid-twenties who will probably forever remain just that, good. With Hickey being just 20, Pep can obviously see a high ceiling, so a lot of room to improve and shape him into what he wants him to be.

Hickey has been playing right back for Brentford. No idea what is strongest foot it. He’s versatile which Pep likes.

Going to sound horribly pedantic, apologies, but he’s actually right-footed, albeit a player who is comfortably adept playing on either flank. Still a fair few rough edges to his game but certainly a player on the right trajectory.
