Academy Pathway to the First Team

I don't necessarily disagree, but we don't see these players on the training ground, so we can't assess what Pep really thinks of their ability, and realistically how close they are to regular first team football.
As fans,we just see Mahrez looking disinterested, and automatically assume that one of the youngsters could do a better job.
You can't tell me Pep plays Garcia because he performs exceptionally well on the training ground. I am sorry but I just wouldn't accept that.

Everybody agrees that Pep should start playing some of the youngsters. The problem is that we the supporters, don't know well the younger players are doing in training.

Only Pep can answer that question, as he sees everything that goes on, on that training pitch. So Pep must see something that makes him think that they don't deserve a place in either the team or the match day squad.

I dont think thats the case at all.
The reasoning being......he has used them already in first team games, and if anything, they probably did better than anyone could have imagined which would logically dictate that they deserve another opportunity.
The fact many of our first teamers are struggling for recovery, further supports that.

Doyle,Delap and Palmer aren't mugs, given the chance they wouldn't let us down,in all probability they would thrive.

We would like to believe that Pep has these genius training sessions, where he runs the rule over each & every player, but he himself recently said that there is currently no time to do anything meaningful.

And can Bernarbe really have been so much better in training, than any other option at left back, that Pep was 'seduced' into playing him there a while ago ? It doesn't add up.

There is no grand plan behind it imo & nothing we actually do, tallys with Pep's past stated criteria for young players getting promoted.

It makes no sense, for example, for Delap to not be in the squad typically, as he's a goalscorer & we are short of them.

He could come on for ten minutes, miscontrol every ball, have a nightmare & still score the winner. It's what they do. If he doesn't score, it's not like he's going to cause the defence to go to pieces & lose us a goal, like someone thrown in at say, centre back, might do.

It must surely be a better use of the squad, to organise the game in a way that you get Delap on the pitch at the end, chasing 3 points, rather than Zinchenko.

Doyle, Palmer etc must surely bring more to the table, at less risk, than Garcia ?

Harwood Bellis is also another one that seems promising.

Just read a small part if an article regarding our attack not functioning Pep was quoted as saying due to aguero and jesus out we have no other option but to play sterling as the tip of the attack

Pep is quoted as saying sterling is giving to play in a position that is not his and is constantly battling

Here is a thought and one that no one would or should find fault in

Why not give Delap a chance and a run of games with sterling and Torres either side of him

At least more time off the bench surely.
