Well since he's under 24, we would have to pay Boro a fee decided by a tribunal anyway, even if we wait until his contract expires. And that fee, with add-ons, would probably be around the £5m mark. So why not pay a couple of million more to get him now, before interest in him intensifies? Correct. Top quality player this lad and will play for England in the next 12 months.
If we get him and he hits the ground running, then i would say he has an outside chance of making the world cup squad.
