He’d be an excellent signing. We should always be signing the best young English players
That's the gamble you take, Palmer would never be given the freedom he now has at City as for Macatee, similar, given the freedom he may well shine, time will tellBit concerned it’ll be palmer 2.0
Agree. We should be all over Tyler Dibbling also. He’d be an excellent signing. We should always be signing the best young English players

Not sure how you’ve reached that conclusion, especially with O’Reilly, who has about 10 games under his belt as a 6 ever. He was a forward last season. He's no better than Wright and O'Reilly for me, Wharton is a bit further along in his progression though his injury this season is a worry.
Not if they relegated which soton most probably will beProblem is these clubs will demand absolute ridiculous fees for what are good young players but with a lot to prove.
just had the surgery on that. He's no better than Wright and O'Reilly for me, Wharton is a bit further along in his progression though his injury this season is a worry.
That could be the case. Wright in particular looks like a really good player. Could this signing basically spell the end of him getting a chance? He's no better than Wright and O'Reilly for me, Wharton is a bit further along in his progression though his injury this season is a worry.

Dibling is an obvious talent, but we need to focus our wide recruitment of players that score and make goals. They need to be more established too, for me.I was on about Dibling, I'm sure either of our lads I mentioned could have similar impact given the minutes. I agree O'Reilly isn't a 6 but Wright looks a perfect fit in that role. Dibling isn't a defensive midfielder either he plays on the wing. I was comparing more their age profile.
I also think Wharton would struggle if we intended to play him as a lone defensive midfielder. They are big shoes to fill for a 20 year old new to the team and I've not seen nearly enough evidence of his defensive abilities to be confident he could do the job. You sign Wharton for his ability to play passes through the lines at a quick one touch tempo, that's what I've seen from him that sets him apart and caught my attention as a potential top class midfielder.

I can't say I've seen much of Wharton, but by all accounts, he's running the show over at Palace at the age of 20. This isn't a squad player, it's a squad player with the potential to become a starter at a top club. Compare that to McAtee, who's getting a bit old to be a talented youngster and still isn't getting the game time despite our injury woes. He spent last season as part of one of the all time worst Premier League teams after doing pretty well in the Championship, which probably gives an idea of his current level.I don't get the logic of swapping one squad player for another. As much as we are thin on numbers I don't think we are desperate.
And crucially, both were arguably world class when we bought them. KDB certainly was.Yeah we can't replace Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva from the bargain bin I completely agree. These guys have been consistently top 10 midfielders in the world for the best part of the decade. It's going to cost a lot of money but that's the point of all the caution in the last few windows hopefully.
Not suggesting not to bring him in along with a couple others in the summer but still not worth gambling mid-season and we really we have to start targeting better players if we are to really improve our midfieldI can't say I've seen much of Wharton, but by all accounts, he's running the show over at Palace at the age of 20. Agree. We have bags of young talent in wide areas. Bobb, savinho and doku. We could do with a mahrez style signing when we got him. Someone already putting up the numbers. We’re desperate for goals from our wide players.Dibling is an obvious talent, but we need to focus our wide recruitment of players that score and make goals. Yeah, Wharton is a long-term one for me. You don't bring in some 20 year-old kid to start for the best team in the world and hope he's going to save your season. Not suggesting not to bring him in along with a couple others in the summer but still not worth gambling mid-season and we really we have to start targeting better players if we are to really improve our midfield

He’s only 22 isn’t he? KDB and others were no where near as good when they were younger and wouldn’t get into our side. I also wouldnt judge a player because he was in a poor side.I can't say I've seen much of Wharton, but by all accounts, he's running the show over at Palace at the age of 20.
