Additional time

I can see the likes of Luton using this next year..imagine they're on a losing streak coming to the Etihad, their strategy? ..... defend all game, disrupt play, delay play, break it up and gain 10 mins extra time to nick a winner

The mad thing about this is that in most cases, the 10 mins added on against us will be due to the other team time wasting to try to disrupt us. Then if that’s successful and they make it to the end of the game, they get rewarded with a bonus 10 mins to try to get a result. It’s not going to reduce time wasting as there’s more nervousness in stoppage time than there is in normal time imo, and more likelihood of someone switching off. It’s a mental thing. If anything, they’d rather time waste more and have a go in 15 mins stoppage time.

People still don’t know how much time is left, today is a prime explain, no one knew how much extr extra time there was, surely they should put up the time added on again.

How can it possibly favour bus parking teams? That is beyond a ridiculous thing to claim - in fact we as a fanbase have been vitriolically pleading the exact opposite for literally years, complaining like fuck that we only get 2-3 minutes when we're chasing a game (see Forest last year) and complaining that bus parking teams waste time constantly with goalkeepers taking an age over every kick. Now they add more time and all of a sudden people are saying it's the other way round? So now you're saying we should be grateful that the teams were wasting time against us and that this actually benefited us? What a load of bollocks.

By its very nature parking the bus is about delaying the other team from scoring. More time = a guaranteed higher chance of them conceding.

If Luton put 11 men behind the ball have zero shots on target, and it's 0-0 in the 90th minute - the ref adds on 10 minutes. People think that now Luton are somehow magically more likely to score than the team constantly doing the attacking? Are they fuck. They are now drastically more likely to lose because they have to hang on for another 10 minutes. This is so basic I can't believe it has to be explained.

Whilst Kyle was being treated the.commentary team.said there will be another 6.additional.minutes on top , how do they know and who is timekeeping ?

Lots and lots of people are bemoaning the fact that 'weaker' teams can exploit this for 10 mins injury time. Well, nothing makes injury time special apart from inside your head, and maybe a little bit more fatigue. Forget the 90th min is the last minute and play as if there's 100. New game management tactics will creep in, second halves will likely be slower.

Surely the simplest solution would be to copy the rugby rules on time i.e. the ref signals to the official to stop the clock for injuries, time wasting, subs & goals & then signals to restart the game, all the fans can then see that the time is being managed consistently & accurately . This way everybody in the ground knows exactly how long is left & the halves finish on 45 minutes, but then again maybe this will stop certain teams benefiting from things being out in the open
