Additional time

This is bob on. I’m actually aghast at how idiotic football fans are sometimes. It is no wonder this sport is stuck in the Stone Age when any change is met with attitudes like this.

2022: “Why don’t referees properly track the time wasted and punish players for time wasting tactics?” Said every single fucking person on this forum.

2023: “Why are referees booking players for kicking the ball away? Why is there 10 minutes added on? Ridiculous, the game is gone!”

It’s farcical. What do you people actually want?

I hope every player that kicks the ball away when it isn’t theirs to touch gets booked, relentlessly. I hope every player that feigns injury has to spend a minute on the touch line before coming back on. I hope referees add 15 minutes onto the game if 15 minutes of play have been lost, regardless of who wasted the time, I want matches with a commensurate and equal playing time. I don’t want what just benefits us (though this obviously will for anybody with a brain).

Why do I want this? Because this sport is currently a laughing stock. This stuff has been eradicated in every other sport known to man but not football. And I’m fucking sick of it. The fact other fans are happy to go back to letting wanker teams waste time like utter dicks because they don’t like the fact Arsenal equalised in the 100th minute is so incredibly short-sighted. How can you not remember how fucking frustrating the Everton and Forest games were last year? Goldfish-like memories.

And as for the people saying we’ll only get 4 minutes when we’re losing… tin foil hat myopic nonsense. I will gladly take a bet that we will always get at least 8 minutes of added time in the league when we’re losing, as long as they continue to apply the rules as they currently are.
The problem is that Arsenal scored during the long injury time and thus 70% of this forum believes it’s there to screw us.

There are plenty of agendas against City and plenty of things that we should be annoyed about, these changes aren’t them.

Read the “changes to rules for 2023/24 season” thread and virtually everyone is in favour of the extended time to stop time wasting affecting results. 24 hours later and everyone loses their mind. It’s odd.

correct the whole lot of them are it and if anyone at this point doesnt believe that football is bent they must be the least cynical people in the world
I don’t actually think it’s because they’re bent. I think it’s because they know they’re totally fucking incompetent.

The main take from myself is teams shouldn't benefit from wasting time , I was looking forward to refs cutting out players feigning injury whilst the rest of the team goes off for a tactical water break (odeeagard yesterday) I thought the new ruling was the player goes off for treatment and has to wait 30 secs to come back on , teams will still.waste time and yet benefit ( if the game is 1-0 1-1)

The game is being totally perverted. The whole notion of a 90minute game is now lost, we know it’s going to be much longer, how much longer is anyone’s guess. Rugby has time keepers and everyone knows what’s going on, once again football with its politics and special interests is way behind. It’s simple, appoint a time keeper, when the ball is dead stop the stadium clock, it won’t stop the tactical injuries because they are to stop a sides rhythm but running down the clock will be much harder.

In an ideal world, a timing official would be able to determine how much time each side had wasted in the second half especially, so that if a team goes 1-0 up in the 89th minute, the time wasted by the team conceding the goal should be voided.

That’s never likely to happen, so the extra time is a better thing for all teams than arbitrarily adding 3 mins on, like they used to.

If a team is 5 up, there’s no reason why both teams just pass the ball around if both agree to it.

Sometimes the obvious answers are the best answers. Problem is that games would be basically 120mins

Agree, apparently the average in play at the moment is less than sixty minutes. reduce the play time to 80minutes like rugby? Could work but would never happen. So I guess we are stuck with arbitrary decisions of referees.
