Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is preparing to offer £8.7m + Argentine international midfielder Fernando Gago for Emmanuel Adebayor. [Sport]
I'd definitely take that, we need another CM and if we just bid for Gago it would take £10m-£12m to get him anyway, so that's like were getting about £20 mill...

Probobly bull though, he got much right in the past??

Sport is a Spanish newspaper hence it being cited as the source.

Here's the story:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.sport.es/es/noticias/liga-bbva/20110808/mourinho-vuelve-imponerse-florentino-vendra-adebayor/1109559.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.sport.es/es/noticias/liga-bb ... 9559.shtml</a>

The Portuguese coach wants the player to Togo as a third striker of Real Madrid and lowers the transfer waiting until the August 31

Jose Mourinho's strategy at the end of last season is taking shape with Emmanuel Adebayor, after confirming that the Brazilian team Neymar not reach until the winter break. The Portuguese said Manolito is the third Madrid striker this season with Benzema and Higuain. The main problem was the price. Florentino Pérez is not willing to pay the purchase option agreed with Manchester City after his release in January, amounting to 16 million euros. Too much money for a third front bearing in mind that behind the squad is pushing Morata. But the Portuguese prefer a player before tanning as Togo.

Mourinho's strategy is to pass the time to go cheaper the signing was confirmed by the player himself last few chips. Adebayor said he expected to Real Madrid until the end and would not sign for any club until 31 August. Has already rejected two interesting offers, one from Zenit and other PSG club with which the City was willing to negotiate.

In recent days, Tottenham has been interested in his move, proposing an exchange with Aaron Lennon. In Redknapp, Spurs coach of the `¿, loves Adebayor, and if he decides it would be indisputable sign on your computer. But the Togolese still waiting to Madrid. All this helps the position of City manager Roberto Mancini of Italy, he warned again Friday that he does not have for the season ahead.

Moreover, the Togolese are willing to lower the salary to the Madrid decides to address their recruitment. A substantial reduction of 7 million euros charged in the City and facilitate a reduction in the financial claims of his current club. The British tabloids have speculated in recent days with this possibility. Manchester City is aware that if you can not sell will have a serious problem because it should address the salary of the player and look for a site on the template against the wishes of his coach. Real Madrid are willing to pay between 8 and 10 million euros maximum per striker.

Adebayor has a great lineup from his former teammates, which was won by her sympathy. The Togolese visited the Real Madrid dressing room to mark the friendly played in Leicester and at the entrance to greet his former teammates they have devoted a standing ovation. Then I met with Mourinho, who surely asked patience because he wants the team for the season ahead. By then the signing of Neymar still in the air, since the Portuguese and wanted him to join the team. But the Brazilian will not arrive until December and that opens the door to Adebayor.

the article says nothing about a Gago swap.

ah cheers. Seems like speculation, though :/

The possibility of bartering with Gago
Mourinho not want to Gago on the computer. The Argentine Mancini likes himself and Manchester City could have proposed a trade of Togo by the Argentine. The English team is valued at 16 million striker and Real Madrid in 18 to midfield. The white club would not have responded to the offer pending the signing of Neymar. Now and after what happened with Gago Boca, could give the green light to the operation with a trade at zero cost.

A swap involving Adebayor and Gago must be worth exploring.

But I would want to check up on this:

"Gago has been keen to return to former club Boca Juniors after falling out of favour at the Bernabeu, but his agent has declared such a move to be a non-starter."

Tevez is surely a one-off. Nevertheless I would want to be sure that we would not end up with another Tevez-like problem.

At this important time in our transfers out strategy, we cannot pick and choose based on your fear of what he could achieve at Spurs.

John Willoams is working 24/7 trying to shift 9 players.......
