Adebayor to Spurs

It's pie in the sky to think we would loan him to spurs even if they paid his wages. I am sure they are leaking this stuff to the press as part of a negotiating tactic but it just seems so completely unlikely to happen.

If they have a player Mancini wants maybe a swap deal, maybe city make a payment to him in addition to cover his wage difference for a year or so until his city deal was up.

It still seems far more likely he will end up back at real, on loan or as part of a player swap deal. He wants to go there and Jose has made it clear he still wants him.

How many millions are we saving if we send him to Spurs ?

He will be there leading goal scorer if he moved there and it will be the sad to see him helping Spurs competing for CL spot with us paying his wages !!!

Looks like Spurs may also be keeping Modric, and adding Ruiz and possibly Lass Diarra.

Yeah, no shit. If we somehow miss on a CL spot to Spuds, it will be some infamous mockery that would haunt the club forever.

Really hope Khaldoon takes control of this before it's too late if true. I would rather give him to Inter or Real for free.

Doesn't PSG or Malaga want a striker?

He already said no to PSG. Why does nobody understand that Ade holds the cards here. He will only go where he wants to go and we can't do anything about it.

You make a valid point, Jill. I just think we should have more control over where players go. If Ade were offered City EDS vs. PSG, would he take PSG? It's not my desire to punish Ade, but sending him to Spurs, who are a direct rival until proven otherwise, is a risky idea.

If we had spent several seasons 10+ points ahead of Spurs, I could be comfortable with this. But we only clinched 4th (from them) in the 3rd to last week. That's a difference of two results. I'm not comfortable with that but I guess I have to trust City to know what they're doing.

Would be the worst bit of transfer business if we let Spurs have Adebayor. Would make them a rival for the Top 4 again.

the only good thing about this would be that ade could not play against us! still seems like a bad idea though.

At another club he might have some say but not at city.

His wages don't effect ffp and we don't need the money. We proved when we sent Bellamy to Cardiff last season and paid most of his wages when he wanted to go to spurs and spurs wanted him we won't do favours for teams that are competing with us.

He's not even training at the moment. How has he got any say or power in this at the moment ? he's playing no football at all and in 2 seasons his contract will be up and one will want him. It will go all the way till the last day of the window this. I still believe he will end up back at real in the end.

How much would Adebayor be worth today????? wouldn't it be much easier if we do a straight swap for Lennon, seeming We may not have SWP or Weiss come the end of the month. Wasn't something similar reported to that effect about 2 weeks ago???

in what way are you concerned about this the fact spuds could get top 4 or that they threaten us in some way?

because i feel they are way behind in the latter i suggested!

Ok lads, I'm a Spurs fan... As you can see from my username, I come in peace! Don't want no pointless internet argument in which some northerner pledges to "break my neck" and so fourth.

Basically, I think you're all a bit deluded. After one game to be so confident of finishing above everyone, and you only beat poxy Swansea, who seemed to pose less attacking threat than a teaspoon.

Anyhow, I think you lot lending us Adebayor would be great, thanks! He should propel us above Arseanal and the Bindippers, who have done a "Man City" so to speak on average crap like Downing and Charlie Adam instead of David Silva!

Adebayor should help us finish near you, as you really won't be as high as you like to think. I can see ManUre pissing it this season, mainly cos Chelsea are literally older than their manager, and you lot will need more time to gel. Also I think Mancini is a richmans Ranieri. I find him rather clueless and think he needs upgrading upon if you are to win the league ever. And you should be looking at winning the league considering you've spent the equivalent of USA's national debt on transfers.

Lets see if you can refrain from just uttering insults. Doubt it.

The main thing Spurs are missing is a good striker. Say what you want but Adebayor is miles better than any of their current strikers.

Especially if they add Lassana Diarra to their squad they will be much stronger than last season.

When the loan deal ended, Real Madrid were not willing to meet the specified transfer fee but were allegedly prepared to pay £5m or so (?) for him.

If that is correct and it is still an option, then the only conceivable way I could make sense of City loaning Adebayor to Spurs with us still paying part of his salary would be if (as someone above suggested) it is profitable for us to do so under the FFP rules. We all know that Adebayor's wages do not 'count'. IF it were the case that 'income' received from Spurs (i.e., their half of his salary paid to us) would 'count', then it could make financial sense (and go some way towards recruiting Cerci or Coates).

We need an expert on the rules...

maybe but my point still being we are title contenders not top 4 spot contenders so not sure what the problem is him going to spuds!

what you saying they get adebayor and diarra and they are title contenders?
