Adebayor to Spurs

To even allow the suggested deal to be discussed is a disgrace IMO let alone let it happen.

I have to say, you are getting on my tits today ! Every comment I read from you is negative, slagging people in the club off, slagging the club off should they do this deal or that deal etc.

Might I seek your wisdom and ask a suggestion from you as to what you would do with Adebayor ???

looking at the pros and cons of this well i cant see any cons to be honest and city may just be thinking that now as well, we are title challengers and not fighting for the elusive top 4 spot anymore!

yes we strengthen a team with a player that on his day is a world beater but he has very few of them days but we do not strengthen a rival for the title its not me being all big headed or scummy thinking thats just were we are at this moment imho.

I can't believe anybody at City is actually considering strengthening our rivals and paying them for the pleasure too, this is not a good deal for anybody we should have found him a club overseas or left him in the reserves.

If Spurs get ten extra goals this season out of Adebayor and we don't get in the top 4 we will look a bit silly in my opinion.

Don't do it City!
You look silly.

We will win the league

Mancini agrees with you. We will not be giving away Adebayor or paying his wages at another club.

For arguments sake if Ade is on 120K per week and Spurs pay half that is 3m per year for them and 3m a year saved for us. If we lose SWP who is also on 60K per week that means we have saved 6m per year. If Weiss is sold we get another 3m plus no doubt he may be on 20K per week so thats another 1m. Lose Bellars at 45K per week (again we pay half his wages) another 2m saved. Bridge likewise 2m and if RSC is on the same money and we do a similar deal another 2m. I am shit at maths but I make that 16m plus 2m for SWP making 18m off wages and income from outgoing transfers, that nearly in my book pays for Nasri or if not Nasri another player that Bert wants (needs). Ooops forgot about ned, we turned down 6m for him but lets suppose we now take the 6m and lose his wages of say 40K per week thats another 8 million plus the 18m equals 26m. They are never ever going to play for us so why keep them when that sort of money can be earned or saved.

Great post.

I was never arguing the monetary savings (I am an economist after all), and although there are some gaps in that post I'll focus on just my point.

Say we save the entirety of the amount refered to in the above post (however unlikely for severals reasons), now imagine a scenario where Adebayor helps Tottenham--who have yet to play a match this season--pip us for at the very least fourth (which is not so unbelievable given their main weakness is their strike force). We have, in effect, just paid a player to prevent us from reaching our goals. I think it is a very unsound policy to undertake anything that can potentially aid in own downfall. It would be different if this was Malaga or PSG, but we are "selling" him to Spurs.

I have seen many a sour business deal similar to this because one party was not fully aware of the consequences of their actions. I hope this is not a likewise situation. If this is absolutely necessary, then so beit, but I for one will not take it with a smile.

Then again he may play well for six games and then revert to type. In which case we would have weakened them considerably. Economically sound policy in this case.

Not according to Mancini. He's having none of it.

If we're loaning him, a shame we couldn't do it in time for tonight's game, Spurs might have scored with a competant forward on the pitch tonight.

I would love to ship him of to a non prem club, thing is only spurs want him cause they are desperate.
I don't like the idea more than anyone else but above anything i just want him well away from our squad.

Mancini said in a recent interview no loans and no free transfers so it does seem at last we are starting to play hardball - not surprisingly some deals have now started to happen Weiss is on his way money on the table for swp and nedum.

Looks like Liverpool are interested in Bellamy as well and are willing to pay all his wages at least.

Deal with the players we can get reasonable value for and worry about the rest latter having seen how poor spurs were last night I would have thought they are even more desperate for a decent forward now. Maybe they will be willing to pay for him Now ? The longer this goes on the more desperate they will, get. It's not like we need the money is it.

Can't remember where but read we were holding off on the deal until after we have played them as you can no longer put in a clause they can't play against you if it is a perm move?

If this is true looks like he is going for good, if it was just a loan he would not be able to play so looks promising.

Some guy on twitter has asked if anyone can confirm a rumour he's heard that Real have tonight enquired about Ade...

surely we'd rather loan him to Real than loan him to Spuds? If we're kicking in salary for the loan we might as well try our hardest for Real to take him.

Can't believe were are practically giving him to spuds, Adebayor is a fantastic player. This is a bad move, there still may be hope Real Madrid come though. Please JM, come get him!

Maybe when they get the 9m for Diarra, they will buy Ade from us. JM wants him, it is the board who are against him, another manager v board scenario.

If he is going to the red dippers it would be better to loan him to them than let him go on a free - that way they still pay the wages but he cannot play against us in the 2 games
