Re: Adebayor

Just like Khaldoon did with Tevez and Milan last Jan we should make a point a principle we will not be ripped off.
Dont submit to Levy's extortion.
In truth they are desperate for him but are just trying to screw us on price.
Be tough.
In the long run clubs will realise we are not a soft touch to be ridden on rough shod.
Get him loaned out if PSG arent interested. Maybe one of the Italian clubs will want him?

..of course, with the shoe on the other foot, Levy is trying to extract a £5m fee from the Toffees for Pienaar!!

Indeed, absolute piss take. Arsenal and Spurs are the worst for this. Wenger will constantly bang on about how immoral City are for spending loads of cash but he's quite happy for clubs to spend silly amounts on his players and then try and rob lesser clubs of their best players for fuck all. It is a very odd perspective on "morals."

Spurs are too greedy.

They are getting a player of the quality of Adebayor but they are not willing to pay a 6 Mil for him even though he cost City 25 Mil ?

If Ade is not willing to compromise and take a pay cut in order to leave, then let him play with the reserve or use him as 4th or 5th striker.

Levy has previously said... " we will not pay money for a player that Manchester City does not want". In other words if he isn't good enough for them.. why should we pay

Delusions of Grandeur yet again from Spurs

Re: Adebayor

We know that they've got money now anyway, more money than last term, but once they sell Modric, that will add more funds to the kitty, surely then we can expose the fact that they don't need to fuck us about and haggle?

Bang on for me. I actually respect Levy's knack for tough negotiating but we should play hardball in return and not roll over. Obviously the longer Ade remains a City player doesn't do anyone any favours - not us, not Ade, not Spurs - and ideally he leaves sooner rather than later but while we may need to make some concessions in terms of accepting a lower fee because of his high wages we shouldn't allow Levy to piss ball us around too much regarding the transfer fee. Even if they have to pay Adebayor several million in terms of a signing-on fee (as has been mooted), £6 million still represents a bargain in today's market.

Re: Adebayor

Can't we just say PSG are sniffing about to hurry this deal up. £6Mill for Ade is a steal anything less from Levy/Spurs would be taking the piss quite frankly, they need a striker we want to get rid this should've been completed weeks ago.

Re: Adebayor

Starting to get pissed off with this and I hope the club is also. We should give Levy until 31 July to come up with the cash or we rip up the deal and put Ade out on the open market and make him available for loan (but not to Spurs).

We could also be leaving ourselves open to Levy backing out of the deal at the last minute and us having Ade on our books and not be able to find a buyer or get him a loan place. They're getting a proven PL striker for the price of an untried foreigner from a minor league.

Call their bluff, if they decide not to go for Ade I reckon they'll be the losers. They aren't going to get another striker of his quality (when he can be bothered) for the amount we are going to let Ade go for.

Re: Adebayor

Good on us for not for backing down to Spurs demands. It was a bit dodgy loaning him out to them last season even though we wanted him out.

Re: Adebayor

Spurs fans think Levy is a genius but he is not as intelligent as he appears. After all, Levy graduated in Land Economics at Oxbridge. That isthe subject that posh kids study because they are not bright enough to read for a more challenging degree, like PPE. Levy has made a pigs ear of a few transfer windows and he could do the same this summer.

Currently, Spurs have Harry Kane and Jermaine Defoe as the only first tam strikers at the club. Kane is no more than a Championship footballer, while Defoe, although capabale of the sublime at times, is not a striker to lead a team to the CL. Neither of them would fit neatly into AVBs formation. Levy is playing a dangerous game. I would say they need a striker with Prem experience more than we need to get rid of Adebayor. Without a quality striker, they have no chance of CL. Possibly no chance of the EL either.

Once Liverpool get Carroll off the wage bill, I would be surprised if they didn't take an interest in Adebayor and look to take him off our hands.
