Spurs fans think Levy is a genius but he is not as intelligent as he appears. After all, Levy graduated in Land Economics at Oxbridge. That isthe subject that posh kids study because they are not bright enough to read for a more challenging degree, like PPE. Levy has made a pigs ear of a few transfer windows and he could do the same this summer.

Currently, Spurs have Harry Kane and Jermaine Defoe as the only first tam strikers at the club. Kane is no more than a Championship footballer, while Defoe, although capabale of the sublime at times, is not a striker to lead a team to the CL. Neither of them would fit neatly into AVBs formation. Levy is playing a dangerous game. I would say they need a striker with Prem experience more than we need to get rid of Adebayor. Without a quality striker, they have no chance of CL. Possibly no chance of the EL either.

Once Liverpool get Carroll off the wage bill, I would be surprised if they didn't take an interest in Adebayor and look to take him off our hands.

I know some very smart people who studied PPE...

Blimey, wish we'd crack on and sign someone.

Re: Adebayor

Malaga are still interested and they will pay us and Ade more than Spurs.
Time to play hard-ball.

Adebayor

Its funny when we about to sign a player there is speculation that another 2 or 3 clubs are after him! But Ade No one media are reporting anything?

Re: Adebayor

I reckon Spurs will go in about 3-4 mill for him and the saving will pay Ades s.o.f (loss in wage bundle).

Getting rid of him would be easier if we could motivate him to look at different countries. He's in a good position to be fair, 2 years left at 170k a week, he has a strong hand.

Still I'd rather we sent Adebayor to anyone bar Spurs. I hate to see them prosper in this whilst they play hardball with Modric, Pienaar and Bale. Nobody leaves there cheap yet they want to pay little for incomings. Still we can't bite our nose to spite our face, getting him gone is a priority

Adebayor

Spuds will hold this up until late August if they can. The only way to move the deal along is to find other interested parties - but even then as someone suggested earlier Ade will probably refuse to discuss a move elsewhere. For all the people flapping over transfers in - this proves that signing players is easier than moving players out. Liverpool signed Carroll in a panic when Torres left - and whilst Newcastle and a few others are interested - his wages of around £80k a week - will be an issue and will drive his price down. Ade's wages are probably twice Carroll's so the problem is almost insurmountable - I.e. at that cost over 2 years you literally can't give him away.

Are your surprised? There is a reason why Arsenal got rid of him and why we want to get shot.

I like to think us PPE graduates are smarter than the ''average Joe' :)

Re: Adebayor

This would be nice but he already turned down Zenit last year and they are bigger. Might pressure Levy a bit though.

Tottenham Hotspur facing competition for the signature of Emmanuel Adebayor from Lokomotiv Moscow
Lokomotiv Moscow are ready to scupper Tottenham’s efforts to sign Emmanuel Adebayor after making an £8 million move for the Manchester City forward.

Former Arsenal forward Adebayor is still in talks with Spurs over a permanent transfer to White Hart Lane following his season-long loan last term, despite City agreeing a fee last week with the London club.

And with Spurs and Adebayor yet to come to an agreement over the player’s wages, Lokomotiv have contacted City to register their interest in the 28 year-old.

While Spurs are reluctant to match Adebayor’s £175,000-a-week City salary, Lokomotiv, now managed by former Croatia coach Slaven Bilic, have made it clear to the player that they are prepared to take on his wages in order to entice him to the Russian league.

It is understood that Adebayor prefers a transfer to Spurs over a move to Moscow, but with City determined to reduce their squad before stepping up efforts to sign Robin van Persie from Arsenal, senior figures at the Etihad Stadium are ready to do business with Lokomotiv if Tottenham fail to conclude a deal with Adebayor.

The Togolese forward, a £25 million signing from Arsenal in July 2009, has not played for City since lining up against Red Bull Salzburg in a Europa League tie in December 2010.

Adebayor has since spent six months on loan at Real Madrid, followed by his season at Spurs, and City manager Roberto Mancini has told the player that he does not figure in his plans at the Etihad.

Mancini, meanwhile, has been impressed by the attitude of Carlos Tévez since the striker’s return for pre-season training.

The Argentine’s future has again been the subject of speculation but Mancini appears to have no problem with the prospect of the 28 year-old staying.

Mancini said: “He came back to Manchester and his behaviour was good. He played a lot of games and scored important goals that helped us win the title. Now he has started the pre-season training very well.”
