Horrible **** on GB News - the two are well suited - imagine sending Swayne to negotiate anything - I wouldn't trust him to buy me a coffee
You are right if you accept we are a puppet. We, and many others have a real say. Maybe Brexit had an affect but surly we could have had a chat with our European partners?
There was no appetite, maybe down to COVID, but it was a cowardly way out. Just look at Johnson’s body language.
To confirm, we are just a puppet who bow to whatever the USA want.
Blue Mist certainly isBrexit has diminished us on the world stage. We have spent 5 years rubbishing the EU and mis-representing the negotiations thanks to Frosty the Showman. Nobody listens to us. We are the international nutter on the bus muttering away and people just looking away and ignoring us
That’s fucking nothing compared to BluemoonMatt having to buy his own house. It is heartbreaking watching a woman on Sky begging to leave Afghanistan as her husband joined the taliban and now beats her all the time
she will go any country anywhere else it’s so sad. I think we let her through and she broke down crying so grateful to leave
Meanwhile, in aspects other than keeping out refugees...
How will expanding our nuclear arsenal deter the Taliban?
And what about close and fast air support for troops ,We don’t have anything to do that mission with, also no eyes in the sky as well as the RAF bean counters have just sacked off the Sentry AEW and R1 Sentinels and the replacement is not here for another five year years ..we don’t have to do what they did, cut and run.

That Biden has finally pulled us out of Afghanistan is IMO absolutely the correct decision. There is however a failure of intelligence with respect to the rapid collapse of Afghan forces.
I guess that but buck stops at the Commander and Chief - but honestly - accurate forecasting of Taliban strength and capability, preparedness to quickly advance the moment that US disengages - US intelligence and/or the ability to communicate up the line is obviously screwed up.

Me? I don't fault Biden here at all. The correct decision is to pull out. We need to get all citizens out of Afghanistan and any Afghan who has shown loyalty to our cause is now at extreme peril.
That says he voted for action against ISILLeaver who votes against EU nationals living in the UK and against military action against ISIL - crocodile tears today

Corruption. Anarchy. War.And what happened there?
The deal had already been made, by Pompeo, in the Middle East, with the exiled Taliban leader, before Biden was even the President!I can’t agree with this. It’s been reported people being murdered and there are Taliban rape gangs on the prowl for children as young as 12. I’m struggling how a correct decision can have that as direct consequence.
The last US death in Afghanistan was 18 months ago, and from what I’ve read it was down to 2,500 troops mainly in support roles.
After 20 years why hand over the country to the Taliban along with billions of dollars worth of guns, ammunition and helicopters? On top of that it’s an insult to those that have served over there.
Fair enough, bring the troops home but at the very least wait until the winter set in Afghanistan and get US citizens out first and have some kind of strategy in place.
This was inevitable from the moment the FORMER guy released the leader of the Taliban, then when he released 5,000 Taliban from prison and gave a deadline of first of May for American servicemen and women to withdraw, and even in April he was boasting at a rally that there was NOTHING Biden could do to stop this. The deal had already been made, by Pompeo, in the Middle East, with the exiled Taliban leader, before Biden was even the President!
In short, Biden following through on an agreement made by his predecessor.
And, using the “It’s been reported” before using the rape of a 12 yr old is a cheap trick in discussing a massive…as in global…political decision. Indeed, the rape could just as easily happen with a few thousand US troops in country as without them…and probably did many times.
Did the Taliban sweep through the country quicker than anyone thought? Apparently, YES!
How? No American troops and the complete capitulation of Afghan Forces, most of whom fear the Taliban.
So, not to be too blunt, who the fuck, other than Embassy Staff, is still hanging around in Afghanistan with the country about to be handed back to the 15th century???
With a force only sufficient to guard the aircraft and secure the airport for the airlift, what exactly was America supposed to do? Send enough troops to secure all of Kabul? Why? For the idiots who decided to stay there with the inevitable about yo happen?
Not worth the life of a single American soldier IMHO.

Tell me what they were then ? The yanks signed the agreement on behalf of all the coalition forces. If we had stayed we would be in breach of an international agreement. We are too much of a lapdog to withdraw earlier.Always choice in life. I wonder how carefully the decision was debated and by whom?
It is nothing to do with Brexit. We were part of the European Union when we invaded. The rest of Europe by and large stayed out. We are puppets because we followed the yanks into Kuwait, Iraq Syria and Afghanistan. You are right if you accept we are a puppet. We, and many others have a real say.
