Aguero?

Honestly wouldn't shock me if he went if his son is currently growing up elsewhere without him....

Unsettled forward prefers Real move to see son

Manchester City will launch their new Nike kit in the United States today but whether Sergio Agüero will be wearing it next season remains to be seen amid growing uncertainty over the future of the Argentina striker.

City arrived in New York yesterday afternoon for the start of a week-long post season tour that will involve a series of commercial and community engagements, two matches against Chelsea and a possible announcement this week regarding plans by Sheikh Mansour, the club’s owner, to establish a Major League Soccer franchise in the US city.

Although the Barclays Premier League season has only just finished, preparations for the new campaign are already under way, even if the doubts surrounding Agüero are a distraction City could do without as they look to finalise Manuel Pellegrini’s impending appointment as manager and dramatically reshape their squad.

City are in a battle with Real Madrid to sign Edinson Cavani, but with Napoli loath to lose the Uruguay striker and insistent that they will not countenance a sale unless his £52 million release clause is met, the Spanish giants retain a firm interest in Agüero and have been encouraged by the player’s apparent desire to return to Madrid, principally for personal reasons.

Real challenged City for Agüero’s signature two years ago but Atlético Madrid’s refusal to sell to their bitter cross-city rivals played into the hands of the Manchester club, who signed him for £38 million.

But Agüero’s split from his wife, Giannina, Diego Maradona’s daughter, late last year is known to have hit the player hard, not least because the collapse of his four-year marriage had an impact on the amount of time he can spend with their young son, Benjamin.

Giannina is believed to divide her time between Madrid and Argentina and, with her trips to Manchester now far less frequent, Agüero, who was among the squad that travelled to New York, is thought to be willing to listen to offers, with a return to the Spanish capital a preference.

City are determined to keep Agüero, who has three years left on his contract, and will hope the expected arrival of Pellegrini, a fellow Spanish speaker, and the quelling of dressing-room tensions in the wake of Roberto Mancini’s departure help their case. Agüero is considered integral to the club’s plans to move to a 4-3-3 formation next term.

Agüero’s situation could, in turn, have a knock-on effect on the future of his club and Argentina team-mate, Carlos Tévez, who has yet to discover whether City intend to keep or offload him as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his existing £250,000-a-week contract.

Juventus, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring Tévez, but the prospect of City losing both him and Agüero would be unthinkable, especially as they want to remove Edin Dzeko, the Bosnia-Herzegovina striker, from the wage bill.

The picture should become clearer in the next seven to ten days, even if the only certainty is that the Argentinian will not pitch up at the next club Mancini manages. Two of Tévez’s suitors, Monaco and PSG, may turn to the Italian this summer.

City, who are shortly expected to announce that Micah Richards, the defender, has agreed a new four-year contract, intend to wear their new Nike-designed strip in the games against Chelsea in St Louis on Thursday and New York two days later. City signed a six-year partnership worth £72 million with the sportswear giant 12 months ago.

The club have remained tight-lipped about reports that Mansour, their billionaire Arab owner, is close to agreeing a $100 million (£65m) deal with the MLS to create a lucrative new franchise called New York City FC.

We will definitely get one more season out of Aguero and then he will be sold imo.

yep agreed
it definitely seems that way and tbh we shouldnt be angry at him at all when he leaves(no longer an if for me just a matter of when). If your son was 1200 miles away and you hardly get to see him it would be a huge deal for you also. I can't blame the guy just hope we get all we can from madrid and dont get shafted on a fee because of a contract running low or some bs.

We won't settle for anything less than we paid for him, that is for certain.

This is not complete bullshit, he will want to be close to his son and there is no way his ex is moving back to Manchester. We can't have him commuting back and forth for the rest of his career. The split definitely effected his form last season.
