Aguero's disallowed goal

having seen the aguero none goal again and again and am sick of saying it VAR and football needs a big review of the rules and changes for it to work

first thing is the linesman and flagging for offside if its close or not ??? play should go on and let VAR sort it out to many lineman are flagging when its clear onside meaning the player has to stop and the chance goes begging, and the aguero goals looks offside but how close was it so the rule needs to change in when the lineman flags for offiside, even take out of the game when the player has to stop the attack just play on and see what happens and let VAR sort it out in the back ground

second thing is handball how and earth can VAR judge on hand ball when its so close and a player is trying to get his arm out of the way (its ball to hand) and not a foul sp again the rules need to be change in the way VAR can over rule the referee with a slow motion clip that shows ball hitting the arm or hand, sorry its going to be a long day watching football if VAR has to judge every clip when ball its the arm or hand

so VAR is coming like it or not and i can see more outburst by players and manager and fans going mad for wrong and clear mistakes being used to give advantage to the big clubs and VAR not being use in the right way ????

My understanding is that VAR is meant to confirm contact between ball and hand, and the ref is meant to review a normal speed video to decide if it's something to penalise.

that's not true ??
the referee is told by the VAR team that he my have made a mistake and they have seen something to look at and they think its hand ball so you should look at the replay and that replay will be in slow motion and maybe in 2 or 3 clips but am not 100% they don't show it in real time to the ref

Same with Union, dependent on what question is asked by the ref:

"Try or no try?"
"Any reason why I can't award a try?"

Using replays and more angles is a great idea, but in practice, especially in football, it's a fucking shambles
I am a big fan of rugby league and it really is a case of the video ref having to find a reason to overrule the refs decision. Sadly this won't happen if football. I think the only way to to check offside is having a microchip in the front and back of a players shirt that can be compared to those of the defenders. Stuff the fact that that a players big toe or his arse are in front the only thing that should count is the chip. If any of the defenders chips are nearest to the goal, its onside and vice versa. We have the technology so why not use it.Obviously this should be shown on the screen which would eliminate any bias or downright cheating.

You may be right, but I thought it was slow-mo to determine fact (did it hit a hand?) and normal speed for opinion (is it handball?).

Anyway, page 134 of this has the FIFA law book protocol (if you're bored):

As long as it doesn't get to the level rugby can be nowadays, particularly league, when everything gets referred.

We dont need chips, we dont need VARs. Most decisions in football are subjective, removing the subjective decision from the ref to someone in a remote room is bollocks, absolute crap.

I cant remember where I read it but nearly every decision in contentious or can be argued either way depending on your allegiance. Better to leave subjective decisions to the ref, maybe with a monitor.

So Gorton_ Tubster, what have you to say about the Liverpool goal at West Ham, when James Milner was about 2yds offside and Liverpool went on to score and the goal was allowed to stand. When if we had VAR it would have automatically been disallowed and given as offside.

I've never seen a referral system yet that once introduced to be used minimally hasn't then suffered from mission creep.

I agree.

In RU, it takes refs like Owens and Barnes to watch the screen and make the decision themselves rather than have it explained (and that struggles so much with external noise/faulty equipment/language and accents).

British League refs are just not very good.

Then clean through at the end and offside again.once in a game but twice
