Air Shows 2014

Farnborough is the best of the lot next month, its down south though!

Have to disagree. Farnborough is a trade show and by the time the public are allowed at the weekend quite a lot of exhibits have left. Best for me are the display at RAF Waddington and RIAT at Fairford which follow on from each other in the first 2 weeks of July.

Fairford RIAT 2014 coming-up next month. Superb hardware, incredibly talented crews. Good food, all day bar, and hopefully decent weather!

Was going to mention this as I used to go all the time as a kid, my father is from there, I wondered if it was still going.

Any idea on dates?

Used to love Woodford.
Yes, me too.

I was there when the Spitfire crashed. As he came out of the loop, I thought "he's too steep and too low" - I was right, unfortunately.

A tragic accident.

you sure it wasn't the Mosquito, the inquest blamed icing in the carburettors which Rolls-Royce had issued a warning/fix for but they had not been carried out
It was a Spitfire. Being rebuilt in the Isle of Wight apparently. The mosquito was Barton.

I grew up, just by Woodford, got a free show every year.
We would sometimes go up to Alderley Edge and watch it from there.

Ever been to Finningley? Four Vulcans taking off and doing their thaang was something I'll never forget.
The ground shook like a shitting dog....
The Sukhoi su 27 at Woodford was memorable....when it does the cobra thing....
