AJ or Bale?

this seems like a futile exercise,

this is a City forum with City fans who are obviously gonna pick Johnson

you'd be better off asking neutral fans or asking about non city players

ps as a Spurs fan I'd obviously pick Bale

This is funny because after reading the thread I remember a few more Bale votes than Johnson.

100% AJ, he's a proper player, gets stuck in and gives it back, very skillful too.
Bale is a tidy player but a southern softie, adam would kick full out of him.

i love the kid.

Spot on Bill..AJ is class.. He ripped liverpool to shreads on monday whereas Bale ( great player) was playing against an unknown team from switzerland...

There is a difference...

-- Thu Aug 26, 2010 7:28 am --

That's a good post for A rag ;) AJ for me, Bale is more direct and to me Spurs base all their play around him. Johnno is better on the right wing and is two footed so his versatility just edges it although Bale is a cracking player.

I think this says it all for me. At the minute Bale is virtually Spurs' lynchpin whereas AJ is in what I would describe as a more supporting role and TBH I dont think either could do the job of the other as well as each are doing it at present.

Interesting times ahead.

Bale is flavour of the month but AJ has more ability. They also play in different teams on different sides of the pitch with different roles so a direct comparison isn't possible.

AJ has a kind of retro 70s vibe (Francis, Brooking) where as Bale looks like Monkey!

We will go in for him next summer bale on the left AJ on the right Milner in the middle. Thats what we are all about now buying quality young players. With spurs not finishing in the top four this season plus Tottenham being a selling club I feel if we go for him next summer we will get him... Mourinho says so.

Johno is already showing incredible potential in that he a relative newbie..... its took bale 3 years to really step up to the mark where as aj is evolving at a fair greater rate...... for me aj will be one of the best wide men in the game within 12 months. Don't get me wrong, monkey man is exceptional but lacks the versatility of our jewel.

Ignorance is bliss eh.......

"It took Bale 3 years to really step up".... well he joined Spurs aged 17.... played 3 games and got injured, then played 7 games in 18 months because of injuries.... he came into the side in January this year aged 20 when Assou-Ekotto required an operation.

Adam Johnson is 23, 3 years older than Bale.... so while you maybe correct in saying Bale took longer.... in effect he has not...

As it happens they are both exceptionally talented players, as a Spurs fan I would pick Bale, 4 assists and 2 goals this season already this season, if he stays fit, I think he will end up somewhere around 15 goals and 25+ assists.....
