Albania vs England | Sun 28th March

Hamilton just won the first F1 race set shouldn’t they?....

It was horse racing they were on about, just after a break in a football programme. I'd nipped to the kitchen, came back and thought the football coverage had finished.

I never used to rate Kane but I do think he would be ideal for us. His passing, movement and game intelligence are just what we need. He's very creative too and can pick out a pass.

However, 150m is a joke. The state of his ankles and age mean, for me a bid of 80m and probably no more. I do think he will leave Spurs in summer and he will comet to us, Chelsea or united.
Then I would start with a 60M negotiation.

There's something insidious in which a TV pundit can just throw out a valuation on a player, and then it becomes the norm. value to start off any transfer talk on all media platforms.

A decent performance today, although it might have looked a bit too defensive with Rice and Phillips. And this looked almost like the best 11 with this set of players. And I hope he's going to ditch back three for good.
I like both Rice and Phillips but not at the same time. The midfield lacked creativity and was slow in transition, not helped by Pope just booting the upfield like a Championship player. I thought Mount was superb. He and Foden bring huge energy to the team. I wonder what a midfield of Mount, Foden, and Rice, would do with Grealish in the front three. Southgate is spoiled for choice but I am not convinced he is the man to take England to the highest level. He is still too cautious.

Not really. You're assuming the negotiators take a single bit of notice of the media.

Imagine Levy on the phone to Txiki "I know you've just offered a very generous £80 million Txiki but Roy Keane/Ian Wright (insert name) reckons he's worth £150 million so you'll have to up your bid.... Hello?"

It will be Southgate, not players/options, that prevent us winning anything.

Forgive my ignorance but what actually has Phillips done to deserve a cap in a World Cup qualifier? I know defensive midfielder can be low key but I have neither seen or heard any call for England to play him, I know Leeds have some quality in their side but their goals against isn’t great and like you say Southgate has played him alongside Rice (who is worth his place in a pretty good England team).
