Alcohol, hints, tips, advice etc.

Anyone get any tips. Single dad, 31, at that age where majority of friends are busy with their own families to keep them occupied, so spend a lot of time alone on weekend due to them not really being able to do much else. Occupied during week with work and the gym. Have every intention not to drink but when it gets to Friday and Saturday and u have nothing to do I just smash the beers in, not an alcoholic (don’t think) or anything but I make some daft decisions, financially after a few. Any tips on what to do on a weekend other than drink when you’re on your Todd haha
Get a shit load of sparkling water and try stepping out of the ordinary, a decent book on a subject you'd be interested in, cook an amazing feast, a bit of yoga?
I managed dry jan but I'm back off the wagon, start again on Monday.
If I managed that anyone else can do anything, you just need a little determination to change things.
Good luck.

It's about breaking the habit and routine. I've tried having a few different low/non alcoholic beers in the fridge all the time. Erdinger and Guinness zero are my proffered options.

I suspect that's my first St Patricks day I've not drank a load of guiness for a long time. I was tempted to go out and get a pack of 4 Guiness zero but couldn't be arsed.
Me too, first time for about 40 years , 14 days for me today, and another game to get through sober .

You got this
I hope so.
We go away in two weeks for a month , we have not had an holiday for seven years now due to covid etc.My wife hasn't seen her family for those seven years and we will miss all the home games,i have no choice I had to accept it !
Gonna be hard ,in the steaming heat unable to have a beer, the urge will be unbearable but my promise to her and my son will win through!

You've got the right mentality, you need to change, not want to change. I'd also suggest checking out the intermittent fasting thread, if you can't eat after 6PM, you can't drink cider after 6PM. Enjoy your holiday with family, you'll have earned it
