Don't get the clamour to get rid of Negredo im afraid.

The lad is class and should be back fully fit and firing.
I really hope he stays and replicates his form but we have to consider the options. If his form has dropped (for whatever reason, injury, fitness, homesickness or maybe just a bad patch of form) and we can get a world class player such as Sanchez for a similar amount, we must entertain that, especially as Negredo is turning 29 soon. Sanchez would make us more flexible, with Aguero and him supplying pace and directness, Dzeko the finisher/target man and Jovetic being somewhere in between. Plus Sanchez gives us a wide option. I want him to stay, but Sanchez will be a more than adequate replacement if he does go.

Press Association: City have no interest in Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez (25).
I guess Beast is staying then.

Or if Negredo does leave we have other targets in mind to replace him.

Not that the MEN is a paragon of reliability, but Stu Brennan said in the Evening News that City are so unmoved by Atletico's offer they haven't even lined up any possible replacements for Negredo. I think our stance with him is "make us an offer we can't refuse or he's staying" so Atletico may move on to someone like Mandzukic, Bacca or J. Hernandez.

I think that would just be posturing on our part. We would be foolish not to be looking at replacements. Athletico could meet our value and we would be left chasing alternatives then.

I assume that this is based on the understanding that Negredo wants to leave. I have heard nothing of the sort from the player, only the usual "sources understand" nonsense,

The Spanish papers aren't that reliable either but so much has been put out in Spain about Atletico and Negredo that there must be some truth in the story. It may be that we have quoted a price we are sure Atletico won't pay but the risk is always there that they do or the player tries to force the move. You can't allow it drag on though.

I would be stunned that if even only a small part of the stories about the Beast emanating from Spain are true that we haven't begun a discrete search for replacements. Txiki did very well last year bringing in the right players without buying superstars, so if we need a new forward I'm sure we will get the right player.

From goal.com.......dunno how true.

Arsenal have agreed a £32 million deal with Barcelona for Alexis Sanchez. Serie A champions Juventus and Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United have also made offers for the Chilean. However, a financial package has been agreed in principle with Arsenal and indications from the Sanchez camp suggest he wants to move to north London.
