It just baffles me how City fans on here can constantly crave signing foreign player after foreign player, Look at the German team, It's full of their domestic champions players, Look at France, Full of PSG players, Look at Spain, Full of RM and Barca players. We have the money so instead of people on here constantly making threads about foreign players such as Pogba, Sanchez, Benatia and Mangala, Why can't their be some energy towards buying players like Shawcross or Curtis Davies at CB or Ross Barkley or Raheem Sterling. With the rest of our line up and squad being littered with foreign elite talent we can afford to nurture players into our line up, Not that Barkley and Sterling need nurturing and at the same time help our national squad.

I get the vibe that because we made mistakes by buying lower echelon British players such as Sinclair and Rodwell, Everyone has given up on the idea. Imagine a starting XI like this, Hart Zaba, Curtis Davies/Shawcross, Kompany, Kolarov, Toure, Fernandinho, Silva, Sterling, Barkley, Negredo/Aguero. We would be just as good and we would also get a bit more leeway from the scum media, That way if we lose a title by 11 points, It wont be those foreign mercenaries lost it.

Davies would cost you about £9 mill, Shawcross £12, Barkley would be the one big money signing, Probably £40 and Sterling would be in the range of £22-25 with his wage rise being enough to lure him away from the dippers.
I don't even know where to start with this post other than to point out the following - £24m each for Yaya & Silva and Southampton want £30m+ for Llalana who couldn't even make the England starting 11.

That's why we went foreign mate. Also Man City is our business not the fortunes of the England team......

The England team is about to get dumped out of the World Cup group stage with an absolute maximum of 3 points, and the way things are looking, maybe 0 points. There's not enough English quality, and the prices touted are ridiculous. £40mil for Barkley who's had one decent season? We can field a first 11 of English players once the academy is in full effect, but for now, enjoy the foreign beauties.

England are shit. That's just been proven. Shawcross/Davies can't get into that squad, so are you really suggesting we get one of them to be in our starting line up? FFS smalling is ahead of them in the pecking order for England. Barkley is good but nowhere near worth 40m, sterling would cost a lot more that 25m and wouldn't be worthit either. Media overhype average England players and therefore give them the price tags of a world class player, England are shit- accept it and don't try to drag city down with them. If we was going to buy an English player though I'd like chamberlain, I think he's England's best player on his day and for all this talk of Barkley being able to be moulded into the next yaya I think he is much more capable of this as he was very impressive whenever he played centre mid for arsenal last season and he has the pace and strength and is good technically, just a bit of improvements defensively and I think he'd be a great centre mid, but of course like all English players he'd be overpriced.

For me, Walcott is the most effective English attacking player. He scores, he assists, he always presents a danger and he seems to have matured out of his headless chicken state into something more complete. But he is always injured, so isn't worth the hassle. If he was injury free, I'd have him for our right side.

Most of them are overrated and those with genuine promise are disgustingly overpriced. There are a few prospects on the continent as good as Shaw and Barkley who would cost less than half as much. It's absolutely outrageous the price tags put on these players (£30m for Lallana who isn't even anything special and at age 26 has had one stand-out season) and no one should complain about us not buying them when Barkley would cost more than our entire transfer cap this summer (before sales).

So let's produce our own. It will take time and we may only see 1 break through every couple of years, but we are about to have the best facilities England has ever seen and even before the move to the Campus, our academy groups are showing great promise with huge buzz about our U18s and groups below that. Lopes may be a good starting point, but some would still complain because he isn't English.

Would love to buy Alexis for the money we get from sales like negredo (if).

I agree that we should ultimately (eventually) have a core of English players. Unfortunately there is nowhere near the quality available to make that a reality whilst still achieving our other targets, so until the campus changes that, we're going to be mostly foreign, because they're mostly much much better.
