Ribery played 1200 min ( only league matches )
Sanchez 3200 ( also only league matches )
Ribery is no longer capable of playing full 90 minutes in high profile match
Sanchez will be first choice if he will go to Bayern

There's no logic in your argument. Last season's players weren't OK with it, and top class players are even less likely to be OK with it.

There's no logic to improving the squad and replacing bench warmers with genuine quality? They'll be told there's no place guaranteed and they're not stupid, if Sanchez is looking at coming here he knows we've already got Aguero, jesus Sane and Sterling and none of them are going anywhere and will therefore occasionally have to sit games out when all are fit and available, There's no logic to not doing it purely because we've got enough quality in that position to cover the first 11 which seems to be your argument. Again, we're building a squad with little to no drop off in quality regardless of who players, that effectively means 2 players for each position, Sanchez,Aguero,Jesus,Sane,Sterling is 5 for 6 with them all being interchangeable and potentially Roberts or Bernardo as the extra cover. The whole "there's no room" argument isn't valid until we've got a 25 man squad of top class quality.

Bring Sanchez in and he starts every game he is fit - exactly as he does at Arsenal, therefore Sane is likely to miss out because there's zero chance of Pep dropping Aguero or Jesus when fit. So we are assuming that Sane will be happy to play in the cup games, the lesser league games whilst Sanchez plays the in 75% of the league games and all of the CL games (unless Sanchez gets an injury). Sane will be off like a shot and he will have his pick of clubs.

"who plays if Sane is injured and we don't sign Sanchez?" - Silva, Silva, Sterling, Jesus, KDB - any of them can fill in. Isn't the whole Pep philosophy that people can play across various positions?

There is no doubting that Sanchez is a great player but to bring him in and impede the development of what we already have is absolutely criminal.

But hey, if building a huge squad with two exceptional players in every position works for you on Fifa and Football Manager, I'm sure it will work in real life.

I'm sure you are right that it would never work in real life only on FM. No team could possibly have 2 top players for each of the forward positions. You'd never get Tevez, Aguero, Balotelli and Dzeko in one squad that only plays 2 up front. That could simply never happen. It's a good job you're wrong though as I suspect we wouldn't have won the league without them.

If Sane wasn't fit you wouldn't be able to call on Bernardo Silva or Jesus as we would never have bought them using your reckoning, as it might have upset Sane, Sterling and Aguero.

The reason we haven't won that much the past few seasons is that we simply have had too big a drop when our starters have been out. Going from Sterling and Sane to Navas and Nolito meant that we couldn't really compete on all fronts. Hopefully we'll have around 60 games this season (plus internationals) and if we just played pretty much the same 11 all season, they'd be completely knackered by the time the World Cup came around. Running into the ground like that is likely to affect their form and fitness. We need to keep our players fit and fresh and that can only be achieved by rotation and rotation will only be effective if we have similar quality players to rotate.

Still doubt Arsenal will sell him to PL rival considering pressure on Wenger and Gazidis.

If Sanchez wants City and forces it through it could happen.

Wenger will say no and demand he just leaves on a free next season, but the shareholders won't turn down up to £50m for a player that wants to leave and only has one year left on his contract.

Have to say, been reading posts by you fine folk past week, and my god, never seen such low ambitions from a fan base of a club wanting to be as big as it gets.
Lads, Pep Guardiola has managed Bayern Munich which had an attack+mid better than anything we've ever had, or will after this transfer window.

It consisted of Lewandowski, Muller, Costa, Coman, Ribery, Robben, Thiago, Alonso, Vidal etc. If he can manage that lot, surely he can manage 3 kids in Raz, Gaby, Sane, (even Mbappe if that story has any meat), and 2 seniors in Kun and Sanchez.

It was clear as night and day that Sterling couldn't keep up for the whole season; Sane, who properly played for only half a season also dipped in form by the end of it. It's crucial to keep in mind the age and experience of most of these players. They're not of the calibre yet to be delivering multiple trophies by starting continuously in a season.

So yeah, let's not needlessly cry foul and exaggerate about playing time for players, particularly when we've gone 3 seasons without a serious trophy.
If Madrid can maintain a second team, and so can Bayern, then we ought to be able to do that too if we want to reach the same heights.

And we certainly can.

Love it, it is exactly what I have been struggling to put into words.

Top notch post there. Hope everyone reads it and reconsider their standpoint on "to many players to keep happy" BS
