Why are we do intent on buying a player for mega millions who, although brilliant in the past, when you take his age into consideration, must be on the verge of sudden decline.
One year of Messi at 80% capacity is still worth it. He's that good

What?

He is just coming into his prime, top goal scorer in Europe last year despite the best efforts of his team mates to limit the games he could play in. Would be the best signing we have ever made imo.

Why a "sudden" decline? Great players have the intelligence to adapt as they get older he is already doing this It's also not just his football he would bring a massive kudos to City and attract even more fans

His age could be a blessing. Perhaps it's the quality of the team he plays in but currently he tries to do much himself and ends up just blunting attacks. Perhaps as he gets older and starts to slow somewhat he'll put more trust in his team.

You've convinced me. I'm in. Let's go for it.

IF I am right and Alexis Sanchez contract is up and the end of this season. Then why was the club trying to pay way over the odds to bring him to Man City. Surely it would have been better to wait until Jan. transfer window and sign him on a free transfer, and save the £60m for other future transfers. We need another CB+ forward.

Definitely needed it's own thread.

Thanks for the input. Not sure anyone's mentioned similar in the near 3,000 page Alexis Sanchez thread.
