Alexis Sanchez

So what's the plan, wait for the football to start before making a bid so they've got something else to talk about?

The plan is keep cool and wait.
Arsenal's hand is: we just keep Alexis and he helps us going back to CL, attracting new players next summer. That only works if Sanchez will work as usual.
The way Alexis turned up at Wembley and this weird abdominal strain now don't really improve Arsenal's hand I feel.

Getting closer to the end of the window Arsenal can decide between a player who has made clear he will be off next summer for free and looks a bit unhappy OR the big suitcase already lying on the table. WE are playing the clock down, not them. Not yet time for a bid.

Let's see how the season starts (Thanks God we have some other things to discuss then...).

Everybody knows where Alexis would like to be asap. City might even wait for Arsenal to come out and say they are "open to talks
as the player doesn't seem to be focused any more" (insert any other fantasy reason).

Well, worst case for BM - wait. :-p

Completely agree about seeing how the season starts and the timing of the bid. I think we learned from the Sterling saga that it's best if these things are conducted over a shorter time frame, if not, it can play out in the media for months. We didn't have much say over that as Rodgers and Sterling's agent set the agenda but Wenger's smarter and is aware this is a bit more delicate, with the player's contractual situation. I think we're coming to the end game though.

Bad start for Arsenal - Sanchez becomes the focus of all Arsenal's problems. The fans want him out, the Arsenal board get their money and we get our man.

Good start for Arsenal - Arsenal fans say 'we don't need Sanchez', Arsenal get their money and we get our man.

Of course we could start well or poorly and that could affect our need for the player accordingly, but we'll be no better or worse off than we were before and they'll still have a £50m player depreciating to zero.

Nice summary. I genuinely believe any whispers in the press over the last few days from City that we're happy to wait is to spook Arsenal.

I guess that Arsenal expected Alexis to move to PSG or Bayern and when he didn't they hoped they could get ridiculous money from City. I'd say they hoped for a very public rejection of bids from us and at the right price (something like £70m) could say the players head is turned and we've no choice to sell but we've got a huge fee. Now we seem to be the only buyer and they can either hold onto an unhappy player (who leaves for free at the end of the season) or take £50m.

I reckon they should work with Pep.
Best manager in the world with a blank chequebook.
Apparently Jesus, Aguero, Sterling, KDB, the Silvas, Sane aren't enough, what 's needed is both Mbappe and Sanchez are needed, that 's how great of a manager Pep is.

Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez is apparently injured and should miss first 2 games.
Make what you will out of that.
I hope those tears taste as bitter as they seem to be.

Could it be, Arsenal are waiting for the season to start, to somewhat cover the bad news ?

Arsenal will expect us to make the first move, but I think it suits all parties to make the bid late. From Arsenals point of view, if he doesn't start the first couple of games the fans will want him gone anyway, which makes it easier for the club to save face. They get their money, we get the player and he gets champions league. No need to stir the hornets nest.

i hope PEP doesnt send out the message to be shit in front of goal to enhance the need for another goal scorer ,he would only have to sit the team down and watch some of last season sitters

What are you talking about? We won't want him gone if he misses the first 2 games. He'll be back for Liverpool, that'll do nicely.

All this chat about City holding all the cards is bollocks. Arsenal are still the ones who have the player under contract. It's still their decision, nobody else's. If they decide they can do without the money to get a better chance of CL qualification, then there's not a damn thing you, PSG or anyone else can do about it.

I honestly don't understand why any manager fans at a club will want a player who clearly doesn't wanna be there let the lad move on to bigger and better things.

You have him under contract and therefore can keep him if that's what you want. However, I would suggest that if your expecting him to put everything on the line, then it's you who is talking bollocks. The closer he comes to the end of his contract, he will be less inclined to put his foot in and potentially suffer a serious injury.

Either way, id be pretty depressed if a player was bigger than my club.

Any other player and I might agree, but not Sanchez. He doesn't know how to take his foot off the gas.

you're hardly bigger and better things though. Since Sanchez has moved to Arsenal he has won more with us than he would have done with City. OK, you're in the champions league, but we've got a much better chance of winning the Europa than you have of winning the CL.

Sometimes I think City have a tendency to act like they've been much more successful than they actually have.

Lol,try winning the title which he is much more likely to do with us as past history will demonstrate

You're getting very bitter now mate if you don't mind me saying.

Look it's not our fault your manager is a Fibber and Sanchez doesn't want to play for you anymore.

It was a reference to a post I made earlier - bad start for Arsenal = fans focus all their problems on Sanchez. Good start for Arsenal = fans say we don't need him.

Outcome, the fans are happy to see Sanchez out of the door and the board are happy to comply.

You hold no cards, or if you do, it's a pair of 2s. To say you are in a strong position is ignoring the fact that he can walk soon for fuck all. Sanchez and Arsenal are parties to the same contract. The only difference is, he doesn't lose out if he stays, you do.

We'll know soon enough.
