Why though? If the rumours are correct, he only wanted City. If we want him in January or in the summer, why would it be different ?

I actually think there's more chance of City cooling their interest than of Sanchez cooling his interest in coming

He has more options now and as you say time moves on quickly we may not be so interested in the next window.

Also should consider a Sane, Sterling, or Jesus making a serious step up in development and City may not be interested in slowing that growth next year. So many variables.

Chile play Bolivia next, wouldn't surprise me if he picks up an 'injury' before returning back to Arsenal, a bit like Coutinho's 'back injury' that has all of a sudden got better now he's with Brazil. After the way Arsenal have treated him and as you could see against Paraguay how upset he looked, I doubt he'll make life easy for Arsenal.

Gutted for him. Would have been great to watch in a city shirt and could have carried us in europe and domestically to potential success. We will have to hope Sane and Sterling continue to improve and it should mean opportunities for Diaz. We are light up top without a doubt now and with our defence that makes me concerned.

Utter, utter incompetence from Arsenal. If the shoe was on the other foot would we really feel good about watching a player play for us who doesn't want to be there. Had they faced up to reality they could have pocketed 60m from us and reinvested that in a player for the future who was hungry to be there. Now they have a lame duck who could prove toxic to the dressing room. Well done Arsenal, is their jealousy of us that great?

Anyone see the pictures of him today getting his award?...Arsenal hope he will go back and be the professional, I wouldn't count on it. He knows he can just keep fit and walk back into the national side without game time. Way this has been handled has been shocking to say the least, so embarrassing for him as he probably thought it was done, telling his team mates, family etc...all the stories coming out how he's the villain of the dressing room and trouble maker. Think Arsenal will have a lot more problems keeping him than they expect (like v Liverpool). Shame really.

Feel almost sorry for Arsenal because their club is being run into the ground by owners / manager who don't really have a clue anymore.

Sanchez will obviously not be giving 100% for Arsenal for the remainder of his contract, and Arsenal will lose out on any fee whatsoever. Not great for us, but it would be even sweeter to take him on a free. That is one less great signing they'll be able to afford. They lose in every sense, and we just have to wait a bit.

You can all laugh at me, in the end everyone here waited all summer for Sanchez to sign. People dreamed about Mbappe as well, Van Dijk, any LB, DM. But now that the window has suddenly closed our team is perfect and does not need any improvment. ! If Kompany will be injured, and he will, we look so bad with Stones and Otamendi. We have 3 Full Backs only, and we've released 3 attackers and signed CM/Winger. So yes we are short and you will see it

You're aren't wrong. Far from it actually. Speaking from my point of it view the jokes on me. I got really wound up in the pogba thread for two years and Mbappe + Sanchez to an extent. Feel bad for the blues who got excited for this one. If you got hyped for van dijk well then that's on you (the collective, not you specif).

I am curious how Arsenal's players must feel now. They get to go to work every day with stone cold proof that their employer will fuck them if it suits them, even if (maybe especially if) you've been a top contributor to the team for a long while. Meanwhile they'll also miss out on 60M that could have been used now or later to strengthen the side -- or pay higher wages.

This seems incredibly short-sighted on Arsenal's part to me, in the name of what? "Holding firm"? "Saving face" with their fans? The only way they don't inevitably come off looking like douchebags or idiots in a year is if they exceed on-pitch expectations performance-wise.

The only thing that pisses me off is at how many times I read/heard in podcasts at how confident city were at this happening. It was bizarrely arrogant and off putting.

So many reports. Hard to know what to believe. What makes most sense to me is "Arsenal thought they could get Lemar but he laughed at them and declined." But isn't "Transfers 101" more or less "make sure guy is willing to come to your club 1st," though? Staggering incompetence from Gazidis and the Sleeping Bag if so.

What if they really just didn't want to sell their best player unless it was an exceptional price...? I mean that is totally possible and reasonable if you ask me. 55+5 was not exceptional..they would have accepted if lemar would come and he wouldn't so Sanchez stayed. Simple to me.
