Unless the board are willing to sanction a £250m+ spending spree next summer Arsenal are done. Even if they do, £250m might not get that much if the market continues to go the way it has. Playing silly beggars all summer and then holding on to him against his wishes, especially in the manner it unfolded yesterday is as short-sighted and amateurish as it can get. Very few clubs can hold on to a player and let him run his contract down and it not affect them. They need a really strong squad and even stronger finances, Arsenal have neither. Its going to cost them £150m next summer to stand still.

If the market remains as inflated as it is then it could cost them more.

Nah, no way. Arsenal are done.

They are lucky that the past 3-5 years has seen Liverpool and United simultaneously going through their worst spells in 50 years, otherwise this would have happened years ago.

Wenger can't coach, his team selections are baffling, They have 1 half decent CB, and 1 decent LB, no defensive midfielders and 2 star forwards who want to leave, with one in open rebellion.

7th all day. Everton will finish above them.

Possibly being kind with 7th. Possibly their strongest starting xi:

----------------------------Cech
Bellerin-------Koscielny-------Holding-------Kolasinac
--------------------Xhaka--------Elneny
Walcott/Ramsey--------Ozil-------------------Sanchez
-----------------------Lacazette

Koscielny looks to have picked up an injury.
Ozil hasn't yet signed a new contract.
Sanchez, not even sure if he'll bother showing up after the Bolivia-Chile game.

Distinctly average team with 1 world class player (Sanchez) and 2/3 good players (Koscielny, Kolasinac, Lacazette), Bellerin's form has dropped off a cliff, Ozil picks and chooses his games and the rest are mid-table players; Cech, Holding, Xhaka, Elneny, Walcott/Ramsey. Not even going into their poor squad depth (Chambers, Debuchy, Welbeck!).

Add a toxic atmosphere, toxic dressing room, your 1 world class player being extremely pissed off and an outdated manager. They could drop like a brick this season. Every team will fancy their chances against them, knowing that if they put 100% in, then they'll be putting in a hell of a lot more effort in than that Arsenal side will be.

As I said as soon as you threw money in our direction we folded and we were expecting as much, not to question why City didn't do this earlier seems a little naive.

Arsenal wouldn't have wanted to sell and as the buying club it was City who had to make an offer that was to good to refuse. Which admittedly you did, just on the last day.

Why not throw money at money at Arsenal when we first went in for Lemar or were chasing Mbappe? You can't blame them for not rushing to sign some random player on deadline day.

City would have completed this transfer on the 1st day of the window given the opportunity. It dragged out because Arsenal tried selling him everywhere but City, first it was Bayern, then it was PSG. It somehow took Arsenal 3 months to realise what we all knew from the start, that Sanchez was deadly serious about wanting only City and that he would not be bullied into going elsewhere. It went to the last day because the powers that be at Arsenal thought Sanchez would eventually back down, when he didn't, they panicked. If Wenger and the board had done their job properly, Sanchez would have signed for City weeks ago and you would have gone out and bought a player or players that actually wanted to play for you.

We all defend our clubs and I don't blame you for defending yours but on this occasion you are dead wrong.

Agreed: I don't think Wenger has it in him to rally the troops. Chelsea finished 10th two seasons ago, it's not hard to see Arsenal doing the same.

I'm sure he is very annoyed but doubt he'd do this. If he desperately wanted out he needed to go on strike a couple of weeks ago. Not that I would have liked to see that.

To be fair to him, now he has a reason to go on strike (I don't think he will), whereas 2 weeks ago/all summer he was being fair to his club, letting them know he wanted to go but still training.

Bournemouth will beat them if they play like they did against us.

Chelsea away after that...

They'll be in the relegation zone after 5 matches. And then the Europa league kicks off.

Eh up, what's this ? Reports from Chile that Sanchez signed a contract with City. Doesn't fulfil transfer requirements but interesting. Some suggestion that we might sue Arse for failure to complete, but I doubt that. What next ?

It appears as though he was very keen to join us, and turned down both Bayern and PSG. It is also reported that he can buy out his contract in January and join a European club but not one from the Premier League. Arsenal "bottled" this transfer (Kaka style) and have left City bemused by their actions, Sanchez pissed off, and their own fans seem very confused by it all.
I think City should speak to his agent, Alexis should buy out his remaining months, sign for Girona for say 6 months, and then be loaned immediately to City on the 1st of January. Is this possible ? If it is, then as a club I'd seriously consider it. Arsenal will lose their best player early, Sanchez and City will get what they both wanted but loose 4 months of him being on our books. Arsenal then have to spend "again" in January.

I think the most sensible thing to do for all parties would be to come to an agreement ASAP that Sanchez will sign for us 1st Jan. At least then Arsenal will get some money and a player that might actually put some effort in for 4 months. Sanchez can relax knowing he is getting the move he wants and City know they are getting the player and probably at a cheaper price.

In books Griona don't have the money do buy him out I presume.

That'd be embarrassing

Sounds like a reasonable solution.

Our attack is fine . It just need some time to gel but it's the defense and defensive midfielders that I worry the most.
The results will come once we tighten up our leaky defense.
Sanchez is a cheery on top .
How many times do you eat cherry on a cake ? Sometimes you do sometimes you don't. By the time rest of the flavors will over power your taste buds.

Isn't that the truth. Top post, mate.
