And if Ederson was in a car crash we'd have Bravo in goal for 4/5ths of out season.

And if Fernandinho was in a car crash we'd have Yaya playing every game for 4/5ths of the season.

And if Stones was in a car crash we'd have Mangala playing every game for 4/5ths of the season.

And if Delph was in a car crash we'd have Zinchenko? playing LB every game for 4/5ths of the season.

Relying on Jesus is better than the same situation in pretty much every other area of the squad.

It’s really upsetting you that we are buying him isn’t it.

I don’t know how anyone could have something against strengthening our squad.

To answer your questions though, yes we do need to get rid of Bravo and Kompany and bring in a LB, CB (preferably in January) and new CM next summer (Yaya’s only just had his contract extended) that has the energy of Dinho.

I doubt Guardiola views him as as striker now. He is more playing in the David Silva role trying to knit the midfield and forward play together.

In the Summer it was a short term move. Now there's no logic behind it other than mis-placed loyalty to a man Guardiola maybe close to
Do you reckon he's lost any pace in the last 12 months?

No, I'm just pointing out how poor your argument is when it applies to every single position in the team. "If player X dies tomorrow..." isnt the way people build football teams.

As I told you yesterday, if he comes in and the 5 of them are happy I'll be ecstatic that he's here, but before that first in football history happens, I'll be sceptical.

Quite a lot wrong with this so thought i'd break it down.

Nobody on the forum knows what position Pep views him in. Not sure of the relevance. However, I will offer some direct quotes as to where Pep sees him, just on the off chance that's more valid than your perception of what Pep thinks. "He can play in all three positions in attack, he has lots of energy, defensive intensity, one-on-ones, dribbles, with a vertical sense of the game, and he is also a great kid." Also, "I think the position Arsenal are using him as a striker, in front, it is perfect for him,"

David Silva is playing a free 8 role. Alexis Sanchez isn't playing anywhere near a free 8 role.

I don't think the club would sanction a £60m bid for a 'short term move'. Again, this is completely opinion trying to be diagnosed as fact/justification.

There is plenty of football logic behind it, the same logic that meant we wanted to buy him all summer hasn't changed just because the window is closed and we're playing well. Pep sanctioned his sale at Barca so I don't think 'mis-placed' loyalty came into it back then, and it won't now. He wants him because he's versatile, understand's Pep system and is a very good player at a very good price.

Apart from all that, good post.

From Munich??
It's not that difficult to suggest where Alexis would fit in. If Pep gets a proper marauding LB in Jan, Sanchez is going to play as inside forward (right or left). At Barca Guardiola used him either on the wing or as 9, doubt that he can play well deeper, he has movement and decision-making of attacker, not midfielder.

Sorry should clarify, I read in a book, it might have been Pep Confidential, or Hunter's Barca book but don't quote me on that, that Pep told the board there to listen to offers for him after only 6 months, but later transpired that he left himself. I'll try dig out the source.

This season Sanchez has not played as a striker for club or country.

He's the sort of player who can drive a team on to score/create a goal by himself

We don't really have that if KDB isn't there.

If KDB got injured or needed a rest he could play that role on top of the front 3 positions

At this moment in time it's obviously difficult to make the case we need another goalscorer but let's see how things are in a month or so. I doubt Sane/Sterling will keep up their current goal ratio
