Alexis Sanchez

In time another forward will become available, and when they do, hopefully we'll be grateful that we did not move for Sanchez. It's not an easy argument to win when you say you don't want Sanchez, but you want some hypothetical younger striker who has their best years in front of them

Most definately..especially in a world cup year as well.

Young world class striker - no way anything under 150. Things have changed after Neymar deal and they are not getting cheaper. This was a very good deal if we had negotiated a bit rather than making a stand.

Maybe so, but the 60m saved in what looks like being spent on sanchez incl fee’s etc, can be used towards this striker/forward along eith any outgoings

We got one for £27m not too long ago, the value is there if we scout instead of signing names.
That was a long time ago considering the deals which changed the transfer market after that of Neymar and Coutinho or VVD. Yes maybe we might land a great talent for cheap but probability is getting lower, there are a lot of desperate clubs with lot of money from the TV deals and they will outbid you if you just get stuck on talent coming here purely because of coach.

Not only that, any player we want close to the end of his contract, yeah you can have him, 60 mil plus the agent's fee.
It's the agent's fees that worry me tbh, those cuts across the road have Mendes running their transfer business and it wouldn't surprise me if he got a sweetener out of any Sanchez deal, I prefer Txiki.

Indeed. Some seem to think we have to buy the very best. There are plenty who are not far off world class level and others who could reach world class level with Guardiola as manager.

I'd have been happier if we won today, or at least taken a point. The problem at the moment is that there isn't a realistic forward target available.

But I think players like Kane or Hazard may become available sooner than we might think. I'm sure a couple of stars will make themselves known in the World Cup too. Players we know nothing about now. Buying on the strengths of World Cups is always dangerous, but City will have the football world at our feet for the short term at least and we can buy the best. Sanchez whilst good, was not at his best, and I objected to buying a player who I thought had his best years behind him, however for the moment I can not suggest an alternative. But I think we'll know it when we see it.

Not sure yet that Sanchez deal is over. There could be more twists.

Twist and shout mate.

The utd fans will be in their element gobbing off and bragging, they haven't had a chance all season poor loves to shout the odds at us about anything, it must be killing them.
And now they will be coming out the woodwork and crowing that they've possibly got sanchez.
I'll just point to the top of the table....end of discussion.

Is the correct response : )

Yeah well for the £134m the rags have supposedly put together to sign Sanchez when everything is added in, I reckon we should be able to sort something out.

In the last few years we took a stand with Hazard’s agent and he went to Chelsea, he’s been a huge part of Chelsea twice winning the league. We were heavily linked with van Persie but pulled out and he ended up at United winning them the league.

Now we have Arsenal’s best player about to sign for united after we’ve chased him for the best part of a year but bailed at the cost. I think it will prove to be a huge mistake, Sanchez is desperate for success, hugely hungry and has an enormous work rate. He will paper over a lot of their weaknesses and I firmly believe will help them win trophies. He’s going for the best deal because it’s his last chance.

Sooner or later we’re going to realise that we’ve changed the game. There's been an incredible escalation in cost, wages and agents fees in part due to our impact in the transfer market. If we keep walking away from the top level players we’re going to struggle to stay at the top. Barca, Real, PSG and united all overpay at times but they tend to sign the players they want. Once there’s an auction we’re out.

Problem is there are limited number of players good enough to play for us. We paid what we needed to for Ederson and 3 full backs and got a huge improvement in performance in our team. If Walker or Ederson pulled the same stunt we would’ve walked and our team would’ve suffered.

Sanchez would have made a difference today and in many matches for the rest of the season. Instead united will get a hungry hard worker desperate to win.

I think they have realised they have to spend more than everyone else in order to stay relevant.

If they pay through the nose for everything, then only a few clubs can challenge them, & the gap between them & the samaller clubs becomes huge, which means easy points every week & champions league, which is how they did it in the 90s.

24 yo Dybala for £150m on 250k a week who can serve the club for 9 years is better value than £50m for Sanchez and £400k a week for 3 years.

All that crap about wanting to play for pep, instead he has gone for the money to a team he will be just as frustrated at when he starts playing, muppet

Let the rags have him, let him play the mourinho way, let him pick up his massive pay packet and let united struggle to offload him

Be interesting the length of contract on those wages and see how the rest of uniteds players respond to it
