Ali v Tyson

As a spectacle Tyson in his prime was awesome. However he was taken apart by better boxers.

Can be argued Ali fought a better caliber of boxers?

All Lewis did vs Bruno for example was jab the fuck out of him. All Ali did was dance around and avoid getting hit until he suckerpunched him. Iron mike would murder him. Them both.

Ignore all points I raised, Tyson ducked Lewis, they sparred together before they were famous, and Tyson wanted no part of Lewis until the end of his career for a pay day. Lewis a year older than Tyson, demolished him, with a devastating knock out at the end of it. I said Lewis was too cautious and boring sometimes, so is Floyd Mayweather so was Sweat Pea Pernell Whitaker, doesnt make them shit, far from it. If Iron Mike was so bad and so devastating why did he duck Lewis? Why doesnt he have any decent wins on his record? Why did he lose to a cruiserweight Holyfield? Why did he struggle against Bonecrusher Smith and Tony TnT Tucker? Why did he get knocked the fuck out by Buster Douglas?

Tyson was spectacular, I agree with that, but he wasnt in the same league as Ali and all the experts back me up. "All Ali did was dance around" lol ignorance is bliss.

I didn't say all he did was dance around. But he did a lot and took loads of punches doing it. I still think Tyson would batter him. No way could Ali put up with him.

Again ignore all the points I made, and you said

no point taking it further mate. Its all opinions.

Yeah that's cool, and he didn't just dance about, he didn't get hit much and didn't have to go until later rounds. Tyson would have battered the fuck out of him.

I think Foreman hit harder than Tyson personally, even highlights of an old Foreman show him knocking guys out with arm punches(not needing to load up or get his body behind the punch). Tyson brought power and knockouts and a whole lot of attitude which was great for the sport, nobody can take away the excitement he brought when he was at his peak and the $$ for the sport that came with it but if you look at the quality of his opponents there's nobody anywhere near the quality of a prime Foreman or Frazier(not even close).

Tyson wasn't the fastest(he was fast but hand and foot speed not in the same ball park as the greats) nor did he have the best defense. As people have mentioned, beat by Douglas before going to jail and outclassed by Holyfield twice the latter probably the truest test of his quality being an opponent of the caliber he'd have to beat to be mentioned in the same breath as Ali. It wasn't that he just got beat by Holyfield because fighters can get sloppy and punished for it(like the excuse for Douglas, Lewis had fights like that too) he was outclassed by him i.e. it wasn't one lucky punch, he out fought him, out skilled him and out toughed him and Tyson had no answers.

Tyson would have a punchers chance in the first three rounds. After that it's all Ali and a 9th round ko. Ding Ding.

Given the choice I'd have rather got in the ring with Ali than Tyson.
The two of them toe to toe would be a tough one to call. Both in their prime were two very different animals. I'd be inclined to think Ali was smart enough to keep away from the big punches Tyson would throw and might nick it. If he was to run out of ring at any point though and Tyson had him in his sights a KO from the mental case could easily happen.
Loved both for completely different reasons.

Had a semi-series Hagen Daz addiction did Lenny Lewy (bucket fulls), made me laff when some smart arse yank reporter playing on the 'not really English, not angry enough'theme that was doing the rounds...told him Bad man was a fighter before asking him how he would describe himself, he replied 'i'm a pugilist specialist'. Said he regretted knocking fuck out of bad man in such a matadoral manner. Tyson calling him Mr.Lewis in the interview after the fight was poignant, polar opposite to the rape your mother and kill your kids shout he'd employed pre-fight.

The list of paid step a side monies paid to other fighters does not just contain LL, from memory there were four on that list, mercer was one, the other two escape me but a numb twat would easilly understand how the coked up pinklon thomas types were preferred

I think Tyson is the most overrated boxer of all time. Comfortably.

Doesn't have a single signature win to his name, no reason to think he'd get near Ali. Other than the standard 'Mike was unstoppable in his prime' cliche (proven false when he got sparked out as a 24 year old).
