Ali v Tyson

The OP asks: who wins?

In terms of styles Ali wins. He could go the extra rounds, his style was more suited to avoiding the likes of Tyson.

But I'll ask this: who would you rather watch?

I watch fighting because i wanna see guys go in there to hurt each other.

Ali was more of a dancer inside the club, whereas Tyson was outside the club hurting motherfuckers.

So yea Ali would win, but I'd rather watch Tyson just going at it like a dog with a bone, rather than watching another dancer.

Mike was pure fucking evil, that anger makes you not thinking right, making the wrong decisions in A fight.
Ali was more cool, using his brain more and thus would have Tyson in his pocket.

Iron did'nt look like the greatest heavy ever in the middle of that Douglas fight, he was checking the floor to see where to start his quick hop-scotsh number that Cus had taught him (paintng by numbers)..wonderwhat Clay had of made of that.

No joke. David Haye was a similar size and style to Ali and didn't come close to hurting Klitschko. Klitschko is the second longest reigning champion ever. Only Joe Louis has reigned longer.

David Haye was nothing like Ali, the only similarity was that they were lightweight and quick for heavyweights.

Their boxing styles were completely different and the differences in ability were poles apart.

Klitschko maybe is second longest reigning yes but that's because the standards have dropped massively, he wouldn't have been champion for long at all had the likes of Frazer and Foreman been around.

Ali would have knocked Klitschko out without getting out of 2nd gear.

Ali would win

I never liked Ali but he was a fantastic boxer who had skill speed and strength and an incredible amount of ring craft making him arguable the greatest of all time.

Tyson would have a punchers chance but I do not think Tyson would have got near enough to land a big punch Any younger fight fans who have tipped Tyson need to go on you tube and see just how good Ali actually was.

By modern standards both Haye and Ali were blown up cruiserweights. Ali in his day was actually thought of as a pretty big heavyweight being just over 15 stone. A lot of Ali's opponents weren't heavyweights at all by today's standards being below 200 lbs.Tyson was also a similar weight to Ali but coming later often fought guys heavier than himself. Modern day standards haven't dropped massively, it's just that the Klitschko brothers have dominated the division for so long. Wladimar Klitschko has beaten far more guys who were undefeated than Ali ever did.The truth is modern day heavyweights are about 2-3 stone heavier than they were in Ali's day. Tyson fought at the start of this era. His peak didn't last long but at that time he was the best we'd seen. You can argue about whether the young Tyson was better than the old Lewis as they came from the same era but peaked at different times but the young Tyson would have beaten Ali.

No doubt that Frazier gave Ali his hardest fights, but they were long fights. Tyson was an explosive force - Ali might have got tagged in round one, but I doubt it. He faced Liston and Foreman in their prime and survived the early onslaughts to give them both a boxing lesson. Ali would have drawn the sting from Iron Mike and had him missing by round 3. Nothing saps a fighters energy like throwing haymakers into thin air and by the middle of the fight, Ali would have been bossing it. I'd see it going the way of Tyson v Lewis, with an extra round or two.

Your argument falls down when you consider Foreman, one of the hardest punchers the sport has known, a 31 year old Ali beat him, like he would have Tyson. Ali was also robbed of his peak years and was undefeated before it, Tyson wasnt the mighty Buster Douglas saw to that. Tyson was also beaten by Holyfield a blown up crusierweight himself. If Tyson was so good, why did he duck Lewis for over 10 years, paying money not to fight him? They sparred when they were younger, when Tyson was so called amazing, Tyson knew exactly what he would have faced with Lewis, and wanted none of it, the so called baddest man on the planet. Lennox was far bigger, had a great jab, a concussive right, his main problem was a perception that he was a cautious fighter and not explosive like Tyson. Tyson being the best ever really is a myth, he is nowhere near, his only win against a top fighter was Larry Holmes who had been retired for 3 years and was nearly 40, anyone can look spectacular beating up bums, look at Anthony Joshua.

Manny said well prior to the Lewis tyson fight that Tyson was a very eay fight for Lennox, who despite being similar ages only one of them was olympic gold medal winner.

Anyone never wonder why Iron was on mainstream sunday night tv over here, remember the ads 'TTTTr...Tyson' over and over, he was a manafactured champion in a poor era, cus wanted an heavyweight champion by hook or by crook.

A lot of folk reckon clay won that 71 frazier meet, he certainly threw twice the punches Joe did regardless of getting knocked down.

He could have called the 4 round rule after getting his jaw broken v norton but said he did'nt fancy the headlines with the vitriol for him being at an high point.

I would suggest they go further back, and see just how good Joe Louis was.
