Ali v Tyson

Given the choice I'd have rather got in the ring with Ali than Tyson.
The two of them toe to toe would be a tough one to call. Both in their prime were two very different animals. I'd be inclined to think Ali was smart enough to keep away from the big punches Tyson would throw and might nick it. If he was to run out of ring at any point though and Tyson had him in his sights a KO from the mental case could easily happen.
Loved both for completely different reasons.
I'd rather get in the ring with Mayweather than Hatton tbh, doesn't really indicate their ability as boxers does it?

I love how people think Tyson would massively damage Ali with the first punch he could land on him. Ali has one of the best chins of all time. There's just nothing to back up claims when it comes to talking Mike Tyson. Ali is proven against anyone you care to name.

Couldn't knock down Tony Tucker but yeah, prime Muhammad Ali no problem.

Think you might be taking that light hearted line to heart mate.
What I love is all our resident boxing experts taking a hypothetical question so serious then getting all uppity when they don't like the answers they read.

Not getting uppity, I'm debating other's opinions on the subject. Isn't that how a discussion on a forum works?

Always find the 'who would win in their prime' a tough one to call. Especially at heavyweight, where one punch can change everything more than at any other weight.

In my opinion, if they were to fight 10 times, I think Ali would maybe win 7 or 8 and Tyson 2 or 3. That's how I try and quantify it anyway. Could Tyson overwhelm Ali and knock him out? Yes. Could Ali box the ears off Tyson for 12 rounds, and even stop him? Yes. In a one off match either of those could happen, but I'd fancy Ali having his way more than Tyson.

Have to say I preferred Tyson personally though, was just an absolute animal.

Boxing comes down to a 2inch cross-hairs game in the end, hitting that target ainit easy when someone knows what they are doing (ask Ricky),Douglas had tippled to Tysons..formulated but no doubt speedy footwork that allowed the big chargei-n with combinations, he simply slapped his lead foot on the canvas the moment tyson got set to start his routine, in a similar manner to which kirkland laing employed to beat Duran. To make matters worse Tyson reteated in a straight line, i've a sneaky feeling Clay may well have noticed this, earlyTyson would'nt connect with an early clay. Not once.

Tyson isn't even in the top 10 heavyweights of all time, he wouldn't beat Ali, Frazer, Foreman, Louis, Dempsey, Norton etc. and he lost to Holyfield and Lewis. His best win is probably a faded Larry Holmes. Hugely overrated.
