All Star Premier League Game

They didn't pay less money during the pandemic.
Ah, there won’t be an issue with money paid for broadcasting, I meant I’m sure they may not be fussed if there wasn’t a massive turnout if they decided to price it sky high for people to attend (all hypotheticals). The game would still go ahead regardless. If they decided to even do it as a PPV, a win for broadcasters too.

I'm surprised by how much of a stir these comments have caused across football.
Something for people to talk about until the next thing comes along. Sure it’ll be forgotten after a while.

I’m a sceptic and all I can think of is another cash grab in some way. Probably seen the potential of the PL and money it makes and wants to make more. Billionaire for a reason.

It got him so great publicity to be fair.

If it was up to him we'd probably have the PL divided into PL North and South with play offs, and a big final held in the US to decide the champions. Whilst the UK gets the relegation play off.

I just think it was a throwaway comment when he was asked to try think of what European football and American sports can learn from each other, given that he's an owner in baseball and nba too and to me the all star thing just sounded like something he thought of on the spot as something America has but Europe doesn't. I could be wrong but highly doubt this is something he's thought about extensively.

Not gonna lie, some fans are irritated by him (but that has more to do with anger at the Tuchel sacking than him talking at a business conference) but most are defending him because he's being battered from pillar to post by prominent people within football.

Blinkered crackpots.

A lot been mentioned about Boehly's comments re All-Star Games. Well, there's a long English tradition of these sort of games which many seemed to have missed so I've put together this article on it. Worth a read to know the facts:

Trautmann certainly loved them!

He’s not wrong on this though.
He’s not.

But if instead of criticising our owners he’d used them as the bench mark in how to run a club then maybe we’d listen.

His anti-American rant is just to force the glazers out, he’ll be happy as fuck if an Arabian owner bought them.

He’s a fucking hypocrite who was happy taking their money, now he wants the ‘yanks’ out.

They got it when the rags were winning for some reason.

It's a shame because his other ideas were probably more interesting.

The 4th place play-off idea is going to become really interesting as Newcastle reach the level of the top 4 and we suddenly have 7 of the 15 richest teams with the best squads in Europe fighting over 4 Champions League places.

I'm surprised that didn't catch on in the media but perhaps it's because playoffs are so ingrained in football culture it didn't have the "American comes over here with all his foreign ideas" slant to it.
