All Star Premier League Game

It's a shame because his other ideas were probably more interesting.

The 4th place play-off idea is going to become really interesting as Newcastle reach the level of the top 4 and we suddenly have 7 of the 15 richest teams with the best squads in Europe fighting over 4 Champions League places.

I'm surprised that didn't catch on in the media but perhaps it's because playoffs are so ingrained in football culture it didn't have the "American comes over here with all his foreign ideas" slant to it.

Ok. I'll bite. What is interesting about that? Or the idea of a relegation play-off?

A lot been mentioned about Boehly's comments re All-Star Games. Well, there's a long English tradition of these sort of games which many seemed to have missed so I've put together this article on it. Worth a read to know the facts:

Trautmann certainly loved them!

Gary, you are such an asset to this community.

What's not interesting about it?

The league is heading in a direction where the top 7 teams will be the same every single year. Which means no hope of any European football for anyone else. Generally a shit prospect.

It also presents a problem that the owners of those 7 will want to maintain squads good enough to get to the 1/4 finals and on of the CL, but they won't qualify regularly.

That's not a sustainable situation, so someone's going to have to find a solution, preferably one that doesn't include England getting 10 european slots which will kill the CL and Europa and put us in a super league by the end of the decade.

If everyone accepts playoffs to decide who gets promoted, what reason can you have for not accepting them as a way of deciding a CL place? It was only 5 years ago 4th place was a playoff spot, just european playoffs not domestic.

Been saying this for a while now.

Yep the American cartel poses a far more significant existential threat to our game and its traditions - an open pyramid based on sporting merit - than anyone else. They want to rinse as much from English football as possible while eliminating all and any risk.
“But don’t look at us, look over there, Arabs!!!”
That so many of City most vociferous media critics either can’t or wilfully won’t see or report on this very real threat shows just how corrupt and hypocritical they are.

He’s not.

But if instead of criticising our owners he’d used them as the bench mark in how to run a club then maybe we’d listen.

His anti-American rant is just to force the glazers out, he’ll be happy as fuck if an Arabian owner bought them.

He’s a fucking hypocrite who was happy taking their money, now he wants the ‘yanks’ out.

They got it when the rags were winning for some reason.
He has occasionally in the past, but he is hypocritical at times too.

When you’re asked for your opinion so often, it probably becomes hard not to be hypocritical after a while.

I guess being a player is a very different dynamic to being a high profile successful ex-player asked to comment on why they rags are so shite nowadays. The biggest hypocrisy for me was his shielding of OGS.

It got him so great publicity to be fair.

If it was up to him we'd probably have the PL divided into PL North and South with play offs, and a big final held in the US to decide the champions. Whilst the UK gets the relegation play off.
nail on head wont be long just think playing rags 4 league games a season the yanks will love it but howard webb will have his work cut out

That’s a good idea but again when will these extra games going to be played maybe reduce the league to 18 teams

Well Alyson Rudd managed to absolutely confirm her fuckwhit status with her North team picks in the Times today, omitted King Kev and managed to fit in M Gibbs White, Ericksen and Ndidi as midfielder choices.
