Altercation at Terminal 2

The original attack was horrific.
The one thing that is now of primary relevance re the kick to the head is how the officer perceived his situation and possible vulnerability. That's the main thing, I guess, that will be focused on.

This. It now at the very least blurs the lines of whether it was retribution or punishment. He has real grounds there to argue he was looking to get control of the situation. Given he has a range of anything from a polite please to use of a weapon at his disposal, the view that he is kicking a harmless compliant guy is up in the air now.

Who the hell would sign up to be a copper in the world we live in… they’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t..

You can’t condone the kick in isolation but I haven’t seen anything about this additional video in the MSM which makes the whole situation less clear cut than I though it was…

The police (I imagine) work to a “rule of minimum force” like I did when I was in the military but I’ve been in situations myself in the past where the general brief was to “take your chances early” meaning go with your gut instead of regretting doing nothing later..

After seeing the video at the start of this thread then it becomes clear that this is far from a case of police brutality … the policeman in question will probably lose his livelihood for something that was adrenaline fuelled…

I wouldn’t do the job for a gold watch
Minimum use of force, maximum intervention

If you suspect that someone is trying to take your gun from you, after already flooring you. It’s safe to say you better try keeping them down. That could be by way of kick the head.

Agree with that once the fighting started, was more thinking the way they approached them in the first place in that second vid, particularly if they were already considered dangerous.
Possibly in hindsight I think your right, I think at the airport the nearest team would be sent to speak to them if what they'd done earlier had been reported. Unfortunately this time it was 2 WPCs (if we're allowed to say that now) and a Policeman. I don't think any of them expected that sort of reaction and to be fair why would they.

I've just really watched the video again. The male copper does an unbelievable job. @meltonblue is right an investigation needs to be happen as 1 male and 2 women is not an ideal response. I hate to be sexist but if it were 3 males things wouldn't have escalated at all. I understand I'll get backlash for saying it but if I were an officer I'd be wanting a 6ft+ guy standing next to me

this is worth an investigation

The whole thing just seems odd to me still tbh, doesn’t help its snippets coming out that don’t give the full picture.

Think it’s equally valid so far though to think the two that assaulted the police officers deserve to be in prison and also think there’s questions the police need to answer too for their own safety more than anything. That situation could have been a lot worse had either of them been able to get hold of a firearm and were motivated to do more damage than they already did.

Some people need to be put into a fight or flight type situation and have 10 bells of shit punched out of them and see if they can still do their job exactly how it is trained out, with zero survival instinct kicking in.

Reminda me of in USA when people were criticising please for shooting too quickly in some case when they were put in a dangerous position and they invited some people who criticised to do a training exercise with a very similar situation and all of them fired the trigger, obviously it wasn't a real gun

I don't think it matters how well trained you are, if it's going to be a choice between you getting killed or somebody else, then your survival instinct is gonna kick in.

As for this airport incident, the attackers are scum. It's easy to say why the police fella lost his head.. however the lad was on the floor and so probably wasn't necessary to boot him in the head in that position. So I don't think its unfair to say the copper lost his head while the lad was already on the floor, which he shouldn't really. I've absolutely no sympathy for the lad taking a kicking at all but not sure what the fair outcome for the copper should be from professional standpoint.
