And so it begins...

Those goals from the beast all look fantastic, but how many times did he score us crucial goals in the premier league when we were up against the wall and needed him? He scored against the dippers but he did his best to blow that.
I think the beast is expendable and would snap a buyers hand off if they offered north of 20 million. When push came to shove at the crucial time of the season it was Dzeko who stood up to be counted. For me, Negredo is fourth choice striker. It is really worth having a 20 million pound asset who is approaching 30 being sat on the bench when he is unhappy at the club (allegedly)?
One striker goes missing for several months and he's expendable.

One striker goes missing for several months and he's invaluable.

Sure.

Who is invaluable striker you refer to Kun or Edin ?

Either way I am onside of nightmare walking on this one. As good as he is I just think 9 goals in PL is a so so return an certainly if offered in excess of 20 mill for a player of his age I would take and look to re- invest in team.

So Milners out of question since TH ruled that out. The Cast one is probably for Richards? Not sure on that at all.
Where did Tolmie rule that out? Or did I miss it?

Forget Milner, he will decide his own fate. I suspect he might even stay if others are moved on?

He said that a few pages back so seems like he isn't talking about Milner.

Or Jovetic or Negredo...

So you've hit on my point precisely.

To be fair, I have never been sold on Negredo. I would be happy for him to stay but if we need funds for players which will benefit us long term, then imo he would be the player most expendable. He is soon to be 29 and is apparently unhappy at the club. He is definitely behind Sergio and Dzeko in the pecking order and now arguably behind Jovetic.
He could surprise me and have an outstanding season and I really hope he does. If we get Mangala then I would be happy with the squad for the season. But if the opportunity came for us to buy a player who would benefit us long term then I think it makes sense to let Negredo go over anyone else.

If City were keen on selling Negredo, they would have sold him when Atletico had around £20m on the table, surely. Despite all the talk of 4-3-3, I still reckon Pellegrini will go 4-4-2 in all but the tougher games, or else why be so keen to hold on to four top forwards? Plus we scored 150+ goals playing that way last season.

The thing is, going off the way you've described Negredo as being unhappy (apparently) and being behind Sergio and Dzeko, the question is would you sell Negredo for £20m+ and replace him with Barkley (obviously Milner/Rodwell as part of the deal) would you do that deal?

Personally I would

To go 2-1 up against Liverpool, ultimately the winner:

The only goal against Hull:

Not in the league but the opening goal, in extra time, against Newcastle. A tournament we would go on to win..:

Again, not in the league but to go 3-2 up, ultimately the winning goal in a 4-2 win, against Plzen:

Sorry maybe me being thick, but that's gone over my head.

I know it's all opinions, but I get impression Jovetic wants stay and Negredo doesn't. All I am saying is if that's true I would sell Negredo for 20 mill and not be too concerned.

I suppose same would be for me for Jovetic.....if he wants to go ( albeit I would set fee higher due to his age etc).

But personally I think that Kun and Dzeko are the main men and have scored crucial goals when it mattered most.....therefore I do not want these 2 going anywhere soon.
