And so it begins...

Do you mean the one that got found out in Europe?

We have 3 out and out strikers, one is top draw, the other two are decent. If selling one of the decent ones meant bringing in a top midfielder that improved the team then I would do that.

Not many of the top teams play 2 strikers anyway, and everytime we have tried it against the top teams I think we've looked more vulnerable

Also, Fernando and his 20+ games worth of CL experience will see to that midfielder you want.
Didn't Dzeko start on his own up front in that game?
Nope, Silva played alongside him in a 442

I can see City wanting Ross Barkley and Everton wanting Milner.

Not sure why Everton would want Rodwell as well as Milner given they recently signed Barry.

Well Barry is 33 and Rodwell is 23. Rodwell's also been injured for the last 21 years though... ;)

yes, but that's very different to playing say...Negredo and Dzeko together, or Kun and Dzeko, or Jovetic and Negredo, the balance is different because Silva isn't really a striker, despite him operating in that area of the pitch, in fact in actually allows him to use his creativity in key areas, thus allowing for the midfield to become more solid behind him, rather than say using 2 strikers and then have Silva drifting as part of a 4 man midfield.

Silva isn't a striker so its not an out and out 4-4-2, if anything its maybe a 4-4-1-1.

You've been rumbled just admit it :)

We played with 2 up front in Munich, where Pellers played a "4-4-fucking-2"

I didn't mention playing 2 strikers, I'm showing that we played with 2 up front, with 4 in midfield at the home of the then defending Champions and won. That's the set up we play and was alluded to.

Not a "4-4-1-1" not Silva floating about behind the striker, 4-4-2;

Yes he did with Silva just floating off him.

The lad above summed it up nicely for me, Fernando will be a huge difference in Europe and hopefully the solidity of him and Mangala will make us harder to beat.

So if we could sell Negredo and Milner (or Garcia) and then the likes of Micah and Guidetti then perhaps use that money for Barkley then id be all in for that, its a bit of a long shot tho and once Mangala comes in im pretty happy with the squad as it is.

Barkley is going or should go onto be a real talent but pogba is already the real deal with champions league experience and would cost the same money thats who I hope we would sign to take over when yaya is finished!

Did anyone decipher the second thing on shaka demus and pliers (featuring the video)- it's like being back in Dougies...

Other than culinary trips to Whalley range any ideas?

This is confusing. On one hand it seems like Barkley is a go, on the other hand if we get him we probably don't get Pogba/Vidal. TH seemed very excited on that Everton clue so something big must have happened in regards to Barkley.
I believe he originally hinted at Barkley and one other. Admittedly, I have no idea who that "one other" could be.

tolm said deffo one.
I was going off the following quote:

Negredo still wants out - that's £20m

Garcia or Nastasic, £10m or £15m, respectively.

Rodwell is another £10m

Sinclair - £3m

Richards £6m

Guidetti - £5m

(and that's without even factoring in a sale of Milner (£10m)

It's actually closer to £60m, but it leaves the club with plenty of change to bring in two huge names.

Granted, I may have been working from old information. I thought the "defo one" part might have been referencing one homegrown player and one not qualifying for that tag.
