Andy Carroll not good enough for us?

We dont always play this tippy tappy football some of you think.
We hoof the ball up a lot too.. and a fine example of this was yesterday... numerous times we hoofed a ball upfield with noone there.

He may not have the skill of David Silva but I do think he will help us get goals against teams where we struggle at the moment.

He would be important in the different games that we lack an aerial presence. Aren't we still the only team to not score a headed goal in the league??

Most blues would take to this lad like a duck to water despite a history of assault and other dodgy activities, because he's a 'tryer', yet a young Italian with limitless potential and a chip on his shoulder who has the gaul to not applaud the traveling fans is slagged to the high heavens.

I like Carroll as a player btw, but as a person? As big a **** as people make Balo out to be, if not bigger.

Think he would be worth a punt, the best transfers always come when somebody gambles on the potential of a player and he turns out amazing. I think hes got great potential!

If we got Carroll we wouldn't play to his strengths! How many times do we cross the ball in a game? Set pieces he would be good for

I think he is a good young player, but would he suit the style Mancini wants to play?

There are also quetions about his personal life, so I would rather we tried to get Torres or Dzeko.

Barcodes used to be a decent footballing side, since Carroll started playing they have turned into Stoke, they were garbage yesterday

if dzeko does'nt pan out then i'd snap this guy up before he ends up at trafford or chelsea.

some good points made about him being a plan b with games like everton making us all to aware we dont have one. crouch has probably won spurs quite a lot of points just due to offering something different from slick passing, movement and counter attacking. it's an option we dont have and it will end up costing us. someone else made the point that he'd scare the life out of defenders and occupy their mind leaving space for silva, yaya, tevez, balo etc. rather than defenders swarming over tevez like flies on shit. who would'nt like to see tevez tearing after a carrol nod down

nout wrong with a plan b people, if dzeko does'nt come off that is

It's not his ability that's the worry but if we start playing long ball football then I won't be watching any time soon.
yep that is the whole problem, like going back to the 2-3-5 days

Carroll is a menace, and his footskills are not as bad as many would like us to believe. Personally I don't think it matters who we get up top (at least not as much as it matters who holds on to the ball behind the guy up top.)

There are a series of ways we can go with signings. We could eshew an out and out striker all together, and bring in a few more ball skill players with intelligence. Personally, I'd favor this. Bring in Javier Pastore and David Luiz. Let Balotelli and Jo Come off the bench as backup strikers to Tevez. We wills score more goals. I think City needs to become a team scoring squad, as opposed to a striker dependent one. Lets get more goals from other areas.

Yaya, Silva, Barry, Milner, Johnson, Balottelli, e.t.c. have to score more. Getting 20 from Tevez and 15 from whoever comes in January, and a high of 5 from the next best scorer will be a disappointing trend.

Frankly part of the reason why we are so dependent on Tevez is simply because Tevez himself can be a bit selfish. Even o his 3 goal, Yaya was better positioned and a simple pass would have resulted in a ore likely goal. Luckily Colocini deflected Tevez's tough angle shot in.

Mancini complained about a little too much selfishness earlier in the season, it seems Adam Johnson is the only one who is listening. Last week he gave up a shot to make a pass to Yaya for our goal, and on the Tevez goal, he could have easily taken a shot but instead held back and passed. I think he should be rewarded with a start for some of these acts.

Others need to follow suit. Yaya once on one of his breakaway run had an opportunity to slot Tevez and get a likely open return pass, instead he went alone and lost it. Granted be probably knew Tevez probably wouldn't have given the return pass. Had that been Silva, I can almost swear Yaya would have passed off.

We need to work on these things. Kolarov is another one with that do it all by myself mentality. I love his shots, but he needs to pick and choose when to release them. Certainly not from the touchline or from an acute angle. That is simply just unhelpful. For example watch how Granger, Carroll and the annoying dude (Ex-Bolton chap) time and time again attempted to drop balls for each other in the box. They did it so often you could tell it was by design.

We need to become a little more like them in that respect. Trust your teammate and the pass!
Baines goal for Everton against us was another good example. Everyone letting the ball play as opposed to trying to play it all by themselves.

I understand the newness of the players to each other plays a role in how well they let the ball play, but sometimes it is simply just down to selfishness!

Wait, what was this thread about again? Oh yes, Carroll! good player that :)
