Basically, when something gains notoriety and spreads around the world at a rapid rate (via the web, youtube, email etc etc), It is seen as spreading rapidly, like a virus. No need to ''panic'' though.

Passed on from person to person, e.g. by e-mail, you tube, social media, etc.

Very powerful in this day and age.

-- Sun Dec 29, 2013 3:31 pm --

NA has admitted he was copying dieudonne. I find it hard to believe that if he knew the origin of the gesture was Dieudonne, he didn't also know about the controversy over the comedian in his home country, where his anti-Semitic views are big news being talked about by celebrities, politicians, etc. To suggest that NA didn't realise just how controversial & inappropriate it was seems somewhat naive

As for the other topic on here, about the differences between Israel, Jews, etc, it's actually a very serious subject. There is a huge difference between being anti Israel/Israeli policies and anti semitic. Just think back to when Blair was in charge of us going to war. How many British citizens disagreed with the policy ? How many in the UK would like to be viewed from those abroad as having the same views as their government ? Then fully understand that there are more Jews living outside Israel than within, who in many instances may of course have Israeli sympathies, but they are not Israeli. They are French, British, American, etc. But jews throughout the world being 'blamed' and certainly suffering as a result of something they have nothing to do with and may not even support, is plain wrong

I am a 4th generation British practising Jew, with a background typical of 1,000s of Jews in this country including many fellow MCFC ST holders. My ancestry was originally Syrian on my mother's side and Eastern European on my father's. Both my grandfathers fought for the British Army in WWII, one great grandfather in the trenches for Britain in WWI. I see myself first and foremost as British. That's who I support in sport, that's what I am. Then I see myself as Syrian & Eastern European to a certain extent as that's my ancestry. I do not see myself as Israeli in any way whatsoever because I'm not - I've been on holiday there, I have relatives there, I have friends there but I am not Israeli in any way at all

I have no problem whatsoever with every person's right to criticise the Israeli government's foreign & domestic policies. My own views on their policies are irrelevant for the purposes of this thread, as should be every other persons' in this specific thread. But there is a growing problem right now with SOME people, who are anti semitic, disguising their anti-Semitism under the banner of anti-zionist (Israel) as it;s more acceptable. It's a far bigger problem in France than here, with anti-semitism involving far more violent incidents.

We quite rightly won't tolerate racism in football, nor do we condone anything even bordering on something that could be considered as anti-muslim. NA's salute was anti semitic, not anti zionist and therefore also has to be punished. It really is that black & white

Sorry for the rant !!!

Fabulous first post.

Didn't they both play in the 3-1 ''Goater Derby'' at Maine Road?
