Angelino

His defensive qualities are not his best but I have never seen him lacking effort and energy. watching Barca last night with Alba up and down the wing (mostly attacking) I was thinking Angelino could easily play in that team. Probably why Barca are romoured to be interested in him.

In an attacking sense he is excellent, very positive, great crosser of the ball and also scores some goals. Got a hat trick in one game last season ( not all as a full back as I recall) and scored again today away at Spurs for the EDS. The question is the way city play are we prepared to have a full back like this? Maybe not although nobody can tell me Kolarov is a top defensive full back.
Angelino needs experience and to fully develop physically, other than that,i see no reason he cant offer at least as much as kolarov,i actually think technically he is better.

Can't see him playing personally. We'll either play Clichy throughout the time Kolarov is out or play Zabaleta/Sagna there.

I actually think Angelino's very much a Pep kind of defender. Pep's players aren't always necessarily natural defenders, but usually compensate that by being ruthlessly organised and full of energy while pressing as a team. He also seems to operate on the principle that they will have the ball for 80% of the game so he'd rather players who could fit into this system. in that aspect Angelino shits all over Clichy and Kolarov already. He's a highly intelligent, accomplished footballer blessed with an excellent attacking ability. He also has bagfuls of energy and a willingness to improve and learn.

I think he'll always be suspect defensively, and the premier league is indeed a mugger's alley compared to most leagues, but I still think he'll get a chance. If we're at home to Sunderland for example, he'd be perfect in an attacking team. There surely isn't many better young full back prospects in the world with his skillset. I can genuinely see Pep liking him in an Alba-esque way. Barca would still beat the likes of Stoke, even if Jon Walters did win the odd back post header. I think rightly they'd go into the game presuming they could play their own game and that'd be enough. I suspect Pep will have faith in the team most of the time.

It's a while since I saw Angelino play but I would say even Kolarov is a step up defensively from that. But Angelino is a worker & an excellent footballer, much more intelligent than Kolarov & much quicker to move the ball & is willing to kick it with more than one foot. The way that Pep likes to swap players around, I would say he's an absolutely perfect Pep type player, but then so are many of our kids. I would worry about him in the present team defensively but I'd be really excited about his ability on the ball, so it's all about balance in the team really.

If we do start to use him though, we need to pick a player elsewhere who will defend set pieces in his place. He would currently be a liability in that area.

If true this highlights just how good he could be?

With Kolarov out he certainly deserves a chance to prove himself
And it also highlights that we're famous for fucking up with our youngsters by selling them. Hopefully Angelino stays until Guardiola so Pep would be able to have a look at him and stuff

Which youngsters, in your opinion, have we fucked up with then?
Please note that I'm not saying that we had let go our youth player for free and he beame a new Messi after leaving us or smth, but as they say, young players would progress quicklier should they have better players around/vs them. I'm talking about Marcos Lopes (who has had some problems with gametime due to injuries), Denis Suarez, Karim Rekik (who was considered to be one of the best young CBs inthe 1st half of the season in Ligue 1), etc etc etc. They may not be top class players but they're still young, they have some outstanding qualities and they are clearly talented and have room to develop. if not have them in our team if they're not ready, then loan them out in a better league. Step by step. Not till they're 30 of course.

IMO lopes was never going to be good enough.
Rekik started off well but stalled
Suarez wanted to go back home
So I think the hyperbole used in your first post was unwarranted

The players released either wanted to go or are not good enough. In time if one becomes good enough we may have to admit the club made a mistake, but in the mean time it would be incumbent of me to support the club and its management rather than some randoms who watch too much YouTube and feel inferior to rags who have kids coming out of their armpits playing for the first team

Besides the non-football things, he defo hasn't such amazing shots as Alexander has. And i'm not talking about the bar ones, I'm talking about those going under it.

One day we may have a new pair of leftbacks with one of them being a deffensive-style defender and another one would be Angelino. But considering his deffensive abilities I'd not throw him in as a 2nd choice for the leftback position next season.

What bollocks. And who are these mythical 'they' who say this? Do you think all players stop progressing after they leave us? How many ex- Barcelona players are there around the world? Have they all stalled and had failed careers?

You really need to stop watching YouTube clips over and over.
