I am from Dundee as well . I get down 5 or 6 times a season.I’m from Dundee aswell & me & my boy go down about 6or 7 times a season, always meet others from Scotland on train
Nope no questions asked simply had my application rejected out of hand because they had (at 94) too many members. I have written to the Club because I don’t think an OSC should be able to do that - sounds to me like your OSC has 160+?I don’t know how this Branch is run but It sounds like you haven’t been invited to join because you couldn’t give a half decent reply to a couple of basic questions. Other Bluemooners have been accepted.
Did you say you've contacted the club to try to get independent volunteers to do your bidding?
I commented before because I recall that a few years ago, anyone from a Supporters Club Branch seemed to get grief on here. That subsided for reasons including people realised that the benefits weren’t what they were exaggerated to be on here.
Good luck with setting up your own Branch. It’s a lot of work but it’s a good feeling travelling to home games on a coach load of Blues etc. Just a word of advice, if you let anyone in then you will get people who have been brainwashed by the likes of Corky thinking they’ve got a right to any away ticket they desire. For example, our Branch has 2 tickets for West Ham Away and that works out at about 1 per 80 members (based on last year’s membership numbers).
Btw there’s other things Branches do like we’ve fund raised for City in the Community and helped people in Ukraine.
Thanks GFBlue. As I sad, I don’t know how the Edinburgh Branch is run but they seem to have added a few members since this thread started. I accept your word that they have communicated poorly / inadequately with you.Nope no questions asked simply had my application rejected out of hand because they had (at 94) too many members. You ask some strange questions and don’t appear to have read the debate properly - I am disappointed. You might recall getting 2 tickets for an England game a few years back in the Club Wembley seats. They were from me. I gave my season card to fellow blues a couple of times this last season for free when I couldn’t get to the match (not easy from Scotland).
I have no problem with hard work (despite being a Civil Servant) in pursuit of my passion which is following the Blues. I hope to retire next year so will definitely look at the option with the Club.
Oh and when I was a teenager I used to traipse the streets of Mid Wales selling City Scratch Cards, so I’ve long done my bit for the Club and am involved in efforts for Ukraine up here in Scotland. If I do set up a Central Scotland OSC it will do more than look for tickets!
They coach journey was 10 times better than the football in those days. I bet they were meant to go to Blackpool and took a wrong turn and ended up at the Etihad and thought. “Stuff it. We are here now, we may as well suffer”I remember talking to a Scottish blue in the pub after a game during the Pearce era. I told him I'd heard a few Scottish voices near the ground. He said there were 3 coaches down for the game from a few different club branches. I must say I was impressed on hearing this. It was hard enough watching that era as a local nevermind travelling that distance and back.
Lived near Edinburgh at our lowest ebb in the 90s and was amazed at our support in Scotland. Lots of Hearts and Hibs fans had City as their second club and loads in Fife. Trains were full of City fans then. Must be more now.I remember talking to a Scottish blue in the pub after a game during the Pearce era. I told him I'd heard a few Scottish voices near the ground. The guy who set up our OSC Branch was / is a big Rangers fan and he travelled to Blackpool to see them play Utd (he thought). Instead he saw City and became a big fan. They coach journey was 10 times better than the football in those days.
