Did enjoy the Nile cruise although the heat was a killer and there is a chance of contacting templeitis ie when you've seen a wall off hieroglyphics you've seen them all but Abu Simbel, philae and Karnak were well worth seeing.
LOL. Done that as well and you certainly do get temple overload by the end. But all those three, plus Valley Of The Kings, were well worth seeing. It was nice and cosy to, with only about 60 people on the boat and a couple of dozen British among them. You actually got to know people by the end of the week.
Those poor fellow passengers of yours :-)

I agree about the temple od.

Went on one in the early nineties and, as I'm sure you'll remember, the boats all leave in a convoy. Bloke on one of the boats near to us got pissed and dived into the pitifully shallow swimming pool on the boat and died instantly. Swimming and holidays is a dangerous combination.

A mate of mine went snorkeling just at the same time that the boats nearby released their "shit tanks", he said it was the worst thing ever :-)

Cruising is not just for the oldies

There are many different cruise lines out there all serving to the individual customer

Cunard who are resplendent in their efforts to maintain the formality of the original product
And cruise lines like royal Caribbean that attract family's with their cabaret and dumbing down

For a typical traditional cruise for man and wife I would recommend Cunard
Not overly snobby but in keeping with the traditional cruise line experience

My favorite ever cruise encompassed Israel and the holy land
Stopped off at Haifa and Ashdod
Went to tell Aviv on train went to Galilee and Capernaum
Great trick with the fish and bread but could have made more wine for the thirsty followers.
Just an observation

Jerusalem was simply amazing
All the stages of the cross and the church itself at the place of the skulls where the crucifixion took place
Nasty chaps them Romans were at the time !

We docked early at daft o clock in the morning and I shouted to the other half to get her bottom out of bed to hear the musical welcome they had kindly put on for us all
But she said I had to go and disappear and get a grip ?
Sadly you can take an horse to water but you can not make it drink
