Ardwick / Beswick

Mary D's used to be Bradford Labour Club, the plaque is still there just inside the doors.
Confusingly, Ardwick Lads Club is in Palmerston Street, not far from the Townley. I wouldn't class that as Ardwick at all.
The Fort Ardwick flats, weren't they used in that Shooting Stars film with Keith Allen, about the lads who kidnapped the City player? I think that's where they kept him hostage.

Slightly off topic I know but I found the History of the Bradford Pit

I did not realise that it only closed as recently as 1968! And one of the reasons was the amount of damage the workings were doing to parts of the City, I have heard that there is still plenty of coal under the streets of Manchester still, albeit a little difficult to extract
