Are we dining at the top table or not?

£24m next summer guaranteed for a 30 year old (by then), brilliant business, considering he doesn't want to be here, we have CL squad restrictions so needed someone to drop out or go, and we now have a minimum transfer budget of £73m for next summer, fancy Reus or anyone with that money.

Not worried in the slightest. There are always more players than we would like to have at the club, and if the kind of money for which we were ridiculed in the past is thrown at them the lack of CL football won't be such a regret to them. We have a squad that is capable of winning the title. So do CFC. The only two, I think, who are serious contenders. The rest are involved in catch-up and chucking shedloads at the problem doesn't always bring a resolution. We have strengthened where we needed to and we have cover across ALL positions. Roll on the next game.

This flapping round like a dying fish is as much about their incompetence as anything else.
No danger. They were so wedded to this 'united way' for reasons of convenience, finance and because it dovetailed with this (disingenuous) 'romantic' narrative that they were peddling, that they started to believe their own absurd hype. I think they genuinely started to buy into their own lies and, fueled by Ferguson's incredible ability to get a silk purse out of a sow's ear, allowed it to impose itself very negatively on the enduring job of squad replenishment.

They could have avoided the extent of last season 's disaster plus this panic fueled splurge we've just witnessed and ended up spending a lot less and in a much more.....errrr......organic way.

That's an interesting thought. It has the ring of truth too, that maybe they really did believe all those coming through would be world class and they didn't need to buy. If nothing else, if it wasn't that, the alternative is they just let it drift through ineptitude. How delicious, two equally joyous fuck ups to choose from!

Well said 2112.

Logic always seems to get imposed upon on nights like this.

Isn't the point is that united have spent all this money this window precisely because we're dining at the top table.

The effects of September 1st, six years ago, are still being felt in the world of football and nowhere more acutely than at united.

This football club, through the offices of Sheikh Mansour, has profoundly changed the face of world club football and is very much involved at the top of that world. If that isn't dining at the top table, then I don't know what is.
Another top post.

Any organisation, if it repeats the same lie over and over, will eventually start to believe it themselves. It starts to seep into the organisational consciousness. Corporate Doublethink, if you please.

Much like the Emperor's new clothes, no one within the club would have dared suggest they hadn't produced a truly top player for a generation. They all went along with the lie because it made everyone feel all sanctimonious and fuzzy at the same time.

Nothing better explains such widespread negligence on a pan-corporation level and such a violent departure from their publicly (and tediously) stated policy of up a year or so ago.

"The united way is dead, long live the united way".

Top table? We were but FFP has seen us moved to the one with uneven legs by the shitters!
Agreed those nice people Gill and Platini have spanked on us big time !!!

Just listening to Neil Lennon answering the highlight of deadline day with 'Just seeing Chelsea and Manchester United flexing their muscles this year and spending big and they're really gonna challenge Manchester City for the title'.

Another fucking obsessed Rag t**t who thinks it's great when others spend money but not when City do it. Fucking love the fact we've really made the vast majority of non City fans squirm and choke on our dining at the top table the last few years.

glad we didnt get falcao , he has had injury problems , and we dont need another injury prone striker , if we had beaten stoke , this question would not have been dreamt of , flappety , flap , flap , flap , we are all doomed. 08457 909090 , hello is that the samaritans.
