are we getting arrogant

are we in danger of becoming like the shitheads over the road, loads of talk of we gona walk it, win every game, win treble, quad etc etc
as a city fan for over 30yrs you get used to city failing, we were in the wilderness for a long long time, being a city fan in those days came with the customary grey hairs and stress lines. and disappointment.

i really hope our fans dont turn out like the arrogant bastards down the road. maybe i still have the bad days firmly stained in my memories, but is strange when you see you beloved club go through such a huge change and start becoming championship contenders again.

i just hope out new fans dont take us down the road of arrogance

bloody hell mate, I too lived (and loved) through those dark days and it does stick long in the memory but talk of us being in the championship again is just crazy... I just don't see us getting relegated this season

I don't really think it's arrogance.

More a sense of absolute certainty that we will win every game about fifteen nil....

Anyone who has followed the club for more than a couple of seasons will share the Op's concerns, as we also remember the drought, the relegations, the 'sleeping giant' quips, the false dawns...

But we can have a hand in how we are percieved to a degree - some looking from the outside will never see past the money, especially those sections of the media how see it as an easy target, but when you talk to real fans of other club, they do still in general have at least a little respect and knowledge of City as a club, and of it's fans.

As I posted in the Man U most hated club thread:

Plus, I've always been baffled by the many United fans (not all, some are decent if we are honest, but an awful lot, especially the younger) who claim supporters of other clubs are below them, just because they support another club. Really it's completely the other way around - I'll give all the credit in the world to the guy or girl who trots along to support Morecambe or Brentford, rather than take the easy way out and pick whoever is at the top of the league most often. Similarly, our City journey has not been covered in glory until very recently, Div 2, York & Bury away... but it's a giggle. Which is what supporting your team should be, not a status symbol to whack those with other loyalties around the head with. I hope we don't forget that either.
Great post, I remember in the Sven era when we had a great start and when everyone started to get abit arrogant saying we would win the league we got hammered 6-0 at chelsea, I know we are much better now but we still need to keep our feet on the ground.

so what! arrogance comes with success,

and as for the down with a bump,

how could we? we are unbeatable....

wait till we start spending some proper money......

It's not arrogance

For me it's 30 years of watching shit..being patted on the head by rags and the 'aww liddle ciddy my fave second club' brigade

A lot of it is just a release

A fuck you release for all those years of shite

I've got to admit after the last couple of weeks its hard to keep my feet on the ground at the moment. But years of supporting city has managed to keep me rooted...just. We have had so many bad times in the past that those who really know this club know not to count their chickens until the eggs have hatched. All this week I have been biting my lip with the reds at work, to be fair a lot of them are decent but quite a few have delighted in taunting me in the past.

We are city, we need to show we have class.

I have not noticed much arrogance just we have become very defensive of our club recently due to everyone attacking us.

We also must distinguish between being happy and proud and arrogance, i have noticed lots of the former which is how it should be we have waited long enough.

I tend to avoid the "what will be"type threads be it the next match or the season or the next few years, i don't have a crystal ball so i can't comment. If i am not at a match or out i will only join the match threads and maybe some pre match discussion of tactics, none of this "the score will be..." from me. After all we are Man City the kings of drama.
