Are You Officially Priced Out Yet, Or Almost?

Everybody appreciates what Sheikh Mansour has done for City.

Apart from saving the club, investing in it, and eventually getting his money back and making the club self-sufficient, I'm pretty sure pricing City fans out of the club wasn't one of his goals when he bought the club.

Unfortunately matchday ticket prices are now heading to a point where many City fans will be/are alreay priced out.

I will refer you back to what Khaldoon Al Mubarak promised us after Sheikh Mansour bought the club.

He lied. Bullshit political speak on his part as I'm sure you will agree with. The club couldn't give two s#%#s if I gave up my season card. I actually think they would be quite happy, flog my seat for £60-£70 or whatever and happy days. As I said earlier in the thread, how can long serving fans have a genuine affinity with a club who is so intent on bleeding you dry.

Prices will continue to rise whilst fans buy platinum. The club will continue to raise prices because fans agree to an 'optional' £50 increase.

Although I love the fact Manchester City are no longer a thing of ridicule, I yearn for football to be like I remember in the 70's.

Ticketed games, all seater stadium and saturated TV coverage have certainly made the game palatable by the middle classes, but at the cost of excitement and mystique that terraces, pay on the day and the if you don't go you'll never see it' version of the game I was brought up on had in abundance.

At the drop of a hat I would forgo all football has today to revisit the football I remember. Futile thoughts and feelings to have I know but they always raise a smile on my face nonetheless.

When I see the club tying deals with companies the size of Nissan, deals which blow the amount of revenue generated from ticket sales into insignificance - this is when I realise that clubs could charge us less.

I'm personally happy at what I currently pay for my Season ticket. it is good value.

But there's a reason why I'm no longer in any cup schemes and I don't go to many aways.
Because of the cost.

As said, this isn't just a City issue, this is an issue across the whole football league.

Football should be about the community.
Including the wider community.

Right now, many people across this country are excluded from their local clubs because of pricing.

The amount of global interest in football, particularly the PL, has shot up in the last decade or so and so price rises are inevitable.

Trying to cater to this growth whilst keeping prices in line is nigh on impossible with all seater stadiums. It's expensive and time consuming to expand seated stadiums.

The people protesting against rising prices should be protesting for safe standing.

The more people you can get into a stadium the cheaper the tickets will be.

Make your mind up who is inflating these ticket prices, is it City or is it football in general?

Pretty sure I just read someone say something along the lines of, 'Sheikh Mansour has pumped millions into our club but the prices have gone up for the fans in the last 4 or 5 years'

Do some people believe that because we have a rich owner that he should subsidise ticket prices?

There are 151 reasons why football "just isn't what it used to be".

No we have many huge sponsorship deals and massive TV rights deals which could subsidise ticket prices easily, £57 for Liverpool is a piss take

You mean those sponsorship deals that all the other top clubs have that don't subsidise their clubs ticket prices?

These ticket prices aren't the fault of MCFC, its the fault of football in general. Our season ticket prices aren't much different to the rest of the PL, at least we don't pay to watch shite every week. That doesn't make it acceptable but were in the same boat as fans all over the country so rather than having a go at MCFC, have a go at Sky, the PL, the FA etc instead
