Are You Officially Priced Out Yet, Or Almost?

Make your mind up who is inflating these ticket prices, is it City or is it football in general?

Pretty sure I just read someone say something along the lines of, 'Sheikh Mansour has pumped millions into our club but the prices have gone up for the fans in the last 4 or 5 years'

Do some people believe that because we have a rich owner that he should subsidise ticket prices?
No we have many huge sponsorship deals and massive TV rights deals which could subsidise ticket prices easily, £57 for Liverpool is a piss take

You mean those sponsorship deals that all the other top clubs have that don't subsidise their clubs ticket prices?

These ticket prices aren't the fault of MCFC, its the fault of football in general. Our season ticket prices aren't much different to the rest of the PL, at least we don't pay to watch shite every week. That doesn't make it acceptable but were in the same boat as fans all over the country so rather than having a go at MCFC, have a go at Sky, the PL, the FA etc instead

No-one is forcing the club to set the prices they do.

Yes them ones, I'm not just blaming City but why do they have to follow the trend?
It's just greed, which has been proved many times on here (I can't be arsed digging out the posts) that ticket income is small beer in the grand scheme of things, If I was an opposition fan coming to the City this season I would give it a major swerve

local working class people can moan all they like, but the Manchester City of today are a successful business and ticket pricing is purely under the control of supply and demand.

Even though the long suffering working class people of Manchester can no longer afford to go as they once did there are unfortunately thousands of fans who don't live or work in Manchester who can and are more than willing to pay these sorts of prices.

The only time it will change is when terracing is brought back and this will give the poorer fans a chance to get to games again

Reading the replies on the City Voice forum, I would guess around 70% are unhappy with the price rises, 20% are wary of what's happening, and 10% are OK mostly because it doesn't affect them by the looks of their responses (and one or two with the usual FFP bollox, not realising how little effect ripping off the common man has on FFP). Let's see if the club does anything about it, even if cheaper Champions League tickets.

There seems to be an awful lot of whining in this thread and almost a desire to have a pop at the club.

Yes prices have gone up - and yes that will have affected a percentage of long-term supporters which is very sad and regrettable.

But FFS to accuse our club of not giving a shit and other such bollocks means that there are some real made-arses and ungrateful fuckers on here.

Jeez - if those moaning are amongst those few unfortunates that are priced out then I offer my sincere sympathy. That said, I hope there is some realisation that this is the way the game has gone and hope that at least you have some appreciation of what the Sheik has done for our beloved club.

Others I just suspect are band-waggon jumping moaning fuckers - some perhaps who do not even go to the games but just get off on moaning - for those - get a life and some sense of appreciation for what has been done for us

Of course people appreciate that we are the best team in the country these days but I'd much rather take my sons to watch us not win the league than sit at home watching the Champions on SKY.

Why is this so hard to understand?

But Kev that is the way the game has gone, accept it and move on (sarcasm)

I agree it is small beans when commercial deals dwarf the money generated from ticket sales, but what some people are asking for is for MCFC to set a president and lower ticket prices compared to the rest of the league.

Like I said its not the fault of MCFC its football in general, if we keep selling out every week how can the owners know who is coming through the gates whether it be Dave Smith a local working class lad who has a low income or some 'tourist' who can comfortably afford the price?

Until attendances drop the club will do NOTHING about the ticket prices, supply and demand, if the demand is there why lower the price??

No-one is forcing the club to set the prices they do.

And the club (and football in general) will argue that no one is forcing you or anyone else to pay the ticket prices.

And I will argue that if the club is so flippant as to ignore the fact that traditional, long term supporters are choosing not to pay those prices then they deserve criticism rather than pushing the blame onto some else.

Like i said its not just MCFC charging these prices its everywhere else

Do you often get upset when you walk into Sainsburys, and their not offering cheap bread and milk when Morrisons, Tesco and ASDA are all charging more?
