Best fans since Poznan.

I prefered the Poznan fans with the things they did, bug the Aris fans are still right up there, they were louder than Poznan though.

couldn't take my eyes off them, they were brilliant.

Hi to everyone and I would like to apologize in advance for abusing your time.
What Aris means to us, the fans?
Everything.
This team has given to us many great moments. In basketball and in football. It also gave us many bad moments. We were in the second league twice . This team with these fans have not won a title for the past 40 years... We lost the greek cup final 3 times in the past 10 years.
Its the same team that has been unbeaten for 40something years in Europe in our home.
Last year 30.000 Aris fans went to Athens to face Panathinaikos for the greek cup final. We lost.
When we where coming back, we were singing on the bus.
In 2007 we were facing Bayern in Munich. We lost 6-0. We were still singing till the 90th minute.
So many more examples.
I can understand when you re saying (in general) that it was 'noise' If you dont understand the language it pretty much sounds like that. For us though every song represents a part of our history.

A free translation- For the time that I ll be alive- I will be traveling and sing- I didnt abandon you during the harsh times- I followed you everywhere faithfully- I ll be for life here with you- Even if i die I ll be here with you- Not even death is enough- Not even there you shall be alone.
We take pride for our team, we are the only club in Greece that is community owned.
We are independent when it comes to press cause we have our own radio.
We dont go to the stadium to watch the game. We can do that at home with a nice slice of pizza and lots of beer. The reason why we go is to shout, to scream so that we can not talk for the next 1-2 days if that will help our team. This is what we can give to this club. We love being the 12 player. 6 buses traveled to Trondheim for the game Rosenborg-Aris. 3.600khm!!! 2 days in the bus just to go and support our team. Lots of my friends went to Manchester. People that are unemployed cause of the financial crisis and everything. People that were saving money or cutting from their home budget. Most of them knew that we are not going to win. Lets be honest. We are playing against Manchester City. They still went. For us its not a trip to go and entertain ourselves. Its our duty to go wherever the team goes.

A Free Translation- Ari remember few years ago in the european lounges- in Munich, Gent and Spain yours fans made history- and in Torino again with you all we your thousands followers- we are 'high' and we will sing and the Turks will be with their mouth open (reference to the Torino final against Efes Pilsen basketball 1993)

Against Bayern.

Im proud of being Aris. Aris gave me sad times and happy times. Whatever happens I ll be there.
Im happy that this team took me to Manchester to play against City!!!
I do apologize for abusing your time, I just wanted to get you in my shoes.
Thats why I ve spent 30 minutes or so in order to try and write whats this club means to us.
Thank you for the hospitality and treating me as an equal.
Good luck in winning the title and hope to meet again.

Apart from that City showed footage of your fans and your stadium on the big screen, played Greek music, and played your club song that you all sang along with. All in all I think Manchester City Football Club showed your club and fans alot of respect. Please don't just pick on one little point.

no, no, I think you have misunderstood! I am referring to Jon Champion the ESPN commentator, not to MCFC.....As I said MCFC showed tons of respect, I was picking a bone with the commentator on TV :)

But yeah, you played the Aris team anthem which was nice, and the fans sang along...and also gave the fans great seats, and accomodated them perfectly.....i dont think we could see any of this elsewhere in europe, the MCFC hospitality was amazing...like prioritising the Aris fans over their own.

Sorry. My misunderstanding. Aris like Poznan will be welcomed at City anytime. :-)

My personal view is that I found it great for an hour then it just became back ground noise. It didnt seem to relate to the game. And as I've said before that might just be because they were 2-0 down early on.

but that's the point, it doesn't have to relate to the game.
had we followed the team's performance we'd be silent all the way.
we're supposed to lift our boys up with our chants, not expect it
the other way round. That's the spirit for this kind of support.

So why did you go relatively quiet (by your very high standards) when you won that corner in the 70th minute that could have turned the tie round? I'd have expected you to have been your noisiest then?

With all respect to the Poznan fans, I think there is no comparison between Aris and them. Aris fans are so much better. More colorful, more alive, more different chants etc etc. I think ARIS have the best fans in Europe by far.

Just look on these videos and compare:

hi
sorry for the double posts before but it was because our posts waiting approval by the mods last night.

i m not sure what do you mean when you said "doing the poznan" thing.
if i m right you mean when we are turning back hold each other and sing.
if yes, we are doing this from late 80's (about 1985-86) in our basket stadium. after that, was introduced everywhere.
you can see it in this video from 1988 when our fans visit Spain for the Final Four. not so clear (4:41 sec) but you will recognize it :)

After a couple of pints in town early doors, i meet a mate off work just as the aris lot were moving on from picc gardens...thousands of um..looked ace, so we decided to join them (safest place to have a can and spliff on the way the ground) and walked all the Mitchell Arms with them without one problem!!! They were brilliant and at no point looked as if there would any trouble, just loud and proud and dint seem to mind a couple blues tagging along for the ride.....fair play and good luck to um i say, top bunch

\\\\\\\/////////// UP THE SUPER 3's\\\\\\\\\\\///////////

althugh they were loud can I just throw a spanner in the praise for them a minute

They all wore yellow as its there club colours - Newcastle do that and get slated!

They had a drum - Blackburn and Bolton do that and get laughed at!

They has a trumpet player -Sheff Wed get the piss ripped out of them for there brass band in the stand!

They had a song where the top section sing to the bottom tier then they sing back to the top - Hull do something similar with their 'we're the left side... we're the right side song' and they get slughtered for it

So why when english club do things that foreign teams do they get slated
but when a foreign team does it the get lauded like some sort of super fan???

i dont mean to be an arse but the poznan fans were alot more better, i thought your chants got very repetetive and boring. no banter at all with you lot, dont get me wrong you had fantastic support but like i said very repetetive.

i think the best supporters from what i have sen is LECH POZNAN they are EXTREMELY ORGANISED and alot of variations.
